A nice park in good ole Shelton, a landmark for those who live there, a guidepoint for those who are just visiting or passing through. There is, for those that don't know: a nice sized kids play area with the big old wooden "fort", where the kiddies can burn off some of that energy they seem to always have an abundance of; there are also picnic tables, a BBQ grill here and there, an asphalt track to jog around on, and a rough and tumble public restroom, only open during daylight hours. Right down the street from Ace Hardware, you will find this park filled with folks enjoying some "free time" ((if it's not raining to beat the band))some there to just relax for a minute, some for the basketball court tucked into a corner of the park....but all in all a nice spot to find yourself in when in downtown Shelton. Adjacent to the people park here at Kneeland is also the towns dog park... a nice sized piece of ground that really needs to be seeded with a strong grass seeding this Spring.... if its raining, you may just have to give both your dog and the kids a bath or shower when you have returned home, as the park gets muddy from Fido and Spot chasing each other when "off the leash" there. The dogs, I mean. Fetch Lassy!! Really great that Shelton is forward looking enough to have included a place for Mans' best friend to run and bark and play too! Just please remember that doggie droppings bags are right there at the entrance gate to the doggie section, and always stocked for the responsible dog owner who "cleans up" behind their happy barking 4 legged friend like we do with our little...
Read moreMy children and grandchildren enjoyed playing here. Also has some stuff for disabled children too. The dog park is a great addition. Park hosts many different fairs and activities through out the year. SORRY I MADE A MISTAKE HAD TO CHANGE THE DAY I said Saturday night before but it's on Thursday nights in August every summer the town has a free Music in the park my family enjoyed this the past 3 years that we've lived in town. Also every year on a Sunday morning the kawana's have a fundraiser breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, cocoa, coffee it's all you can eat for just one price per person plus they also have a price for a family of 4. {You'll need to check each year for the prices.} Really good food and really nice people. The Boy Scouts are so nice they ask if you need anything and look forward to putting your stuff in the trash. (I mean really really enjoy doing this for you.) This last year the Shelton High School Cheer Leaders helped out in stead of the Boy Scouts. It is a wonderful thing we have been doing before church the past 3 years. The town working together has made big changes to the area making it safe, But I feel always you should keep a good eye on your children when ever your out in public. Have a great year and enjoy the awesome...
Read moreIf there were better parks around I’d go elsewhere. Went to take my toddler daughter here this morning and someone had left their child’s poo covered sandals just right there in the wood chips. Okay…absolutely disgusting but we will just stay away from that area,…no problem. We walk to a different area and there is what I can only assume are human feces on the equipment, if not human than dog. Which isn’t much better. Safe to say I will never be going back. Something about this park just grosses me out. Even before seeing what I saw. They spray some kind of oily liquid on the equipment which makes it look greasy and gross to the touch, and then on top of that it gets all over the kids clothes even after it’s “dried” and they’ve taken the caution tape away. The large open field is nice when it’s not riddled with animal feces. I think they need a member of the parks department at this park at all times. Something has...
