My son and I go to the Shelton Cinema quite often. It has become our 'thing'. Usually, we hit a matinee on a weekday, and, for the most part, we get the whole place to ourselves. "Front Row Joes" we are with our bag of extra-buttery popcorn, favorite candies and cold beverages to wash it all down. Over the years the hometown charm of this theater has not diminished. I once worked there myself many years ago and with the upgrade to digital, I'm very glad that the current employees will never know the stress and hassle of a 'brain-wrapped' film. The Shelton Cinema has two screens that allow for multiple movies to play at once in separate theaters, and in all the years, I've yet to have a time where the movie 'next-door' could be heard or bothered my experience while watching a movie in the other. It is not the mall or big-name Megaplex theaters and that is a large part of its charm and awesomeness. The movies are on weekly rotations giving ample time to catch a film and unlike years ago are very current and close to national release dates. The lobby and bathrooms are clean and well-lit. My husband and I have grown up in the area. We were here to experience the cinemas, when they first opened. We raised our children attending the theater quite frequently, enjoying all of our favorite movies through the years. My husband and I along with our now adult children, once again enjoyed a movie at the Shelton Cinemas last week. And as always we appreciated the convenient, home like atmosphere, all the while the Cinema's have remained modern and up-to-date as the years have gone by. We went to see The Grinch today! This is only the 2nd time I've been to this theatre in the 25 years we've lived in Shelton. Needless to say, I'm not much of a movie goer. This is a small town theatre that manages to get movies very soon after their release. The theatre is clean, has a nice concession stand and coffee options.
