It was great to be on the beach on a perfectly beautiful day, there was quite the crowd, even though we arrived on the later side of the afternoon which was good as we avoided I'm much of the traffic traveling in, we mostly walked quite a distance along the beach and the water for this time of year was unusually warm, it was still cold enough to the point where most would only go in for a few minutes dip. Humidity was low temperature wasn't scorching and there was even a slight breeze, it was almost a get away from society as not a single mask was present and social distancing was irrelevant, especially when UVA/UVB has been proven to kill the virus within 90 secs max. I also highly doubt anyone that symptomatic was present on the beach as it would seem to me to be most uncomfortable. It was almost as if it was a reminder of what life once was without the prevelence of this archaic method of safety by an unprepared govt. It was care free and a well needed escape of the reality of "the virus" . Which personally I believe is no deadlier than a bad flu strain if one has none of the preexisting factors. In a true FREE society it should be up to the individual of they decide to wear a mask for their own protection, but this isn't the case as 95% of masks worn will not stop this highly contagious virus as they have no ISO rating or OSHA rating like N95 and after 3 months their is still a lack of masks ? This is the 21st century where technology doubles every 18 months and we can't produce enough masks for the front line healthcare workers? Never mind the public with pre-existing conditions who should never lei the house without one of these masks. Sorry this was attached to the review of LBI, it's just that arachic polices dictate all facets of life. We need to stand up and not sit down and shy away anymore, govt is supposed to be by the people...
Read moreThis is a beautifully, awesome beach! The scenery is stunning, and it's not overcrowded like the majority of beaches. It was also really clean. The location is in a nice, peaceful suburban area, where you can also drive a few miles to visit actual stores like Target and other supermarkets. It's not your typical "country-like," remote beach setting, and I loved that! You can rent boats nearby and really have a nice, classy experience. Atlantic city is also close by, so you can embark on a mini adventure to explore the New Jersey area. The only downside is that you have to pay to gain access, which can come off a little unexpected for a lot of people; however, it actually works well to control the volume since free beaches tend to be overpopulated, and during a pandemic, that's a huge downside. I would have personally liked to have seen a tad more diversity for a more inclusive feeling, but all in all, I truly loved my experience and would totally revisit and recommend! Yes to amazing beaches in...
Read moreIt's the greatest beach in NJ. Hands down. Family-friendly and fantastic mom-and-pop shops. Plenty of fun things to do. From climbing Ol Barney (the lighthouse) to checking the sites on the other end of the 18-mile stretch at the bird sanctuary in Holgate. You can't forget to stop along the way and see LBI from atop the giant wheel at the always fantastic fantasy island and compete in some mini-put-put at Mr. Tees. There won't ever be a dull moment as long as you have the time to spend. Did I mention the food? From #CaliforniaGrill to #Stefano'sRestaurant to #TheEngleside Inn and Restaurant there are plenty of great stops to keep you fed and still wanting more. There's no place like it. Once you cross that bridge my friend you won't ever want to cross it again. Especially if the traffic lights are back on. Hahaha. A must...
