Best tuna ever! So good we went twice in the week we were on LBI. Lightly seared tuna tartare with bok choy was absolutely divine and so pretty! Wasabi crema sauce (start slowly with the amount of that as it is delectable, but also sinus opening), swirled with unagi sauce (perfect sweet pairing), and when you’ve constructed the perfect bite before you put it in your mouth dip it in the ponzu sauce. Heaven! We also had a delicious scallop, coconut, red pepper sauce appetizer, a fantastic crabcake and shrimp appetizer, a lovely Hudson Valley duck in a cranberry mustard seed sauce one night, and a red snapper in a fresh horseradish potato crust over hericot verte with sauce. The dumplings had a surprisingly fresh and delightful brightening with lemon grass, and we had some kind of wonderful marscapone berry cake for dessert. Everything was very good to exceptional. Bring your own wine (no corking fee) or purchase from their limited selection. The staff was absolutely delightful, knowledgeable, and accommodating. We ate inside both times with warm playful Edison lights creating a lovely ambience.

I cannot recommend this establishment. They have more specials than menu items. It takes the waitress five minutes to read them. I think this is their "special" way of getting you to spend. Since they don't serve alcohol (except red & white dry wine) they have to make money somehow. The prices aren't disclosed except for the $74 steak which you can add a $25 lobster tail to bringing your surf & turf to $99. Needless to say we fell victim to a $20 flatbread appetizer and $52 scallop entree. The dessert menu was read to us, again, with no prices and we accumulated another $14 for a tiny dessert. See pics. The waitress Jess was nice , however, the water boy walked by our empty water glasses 10xs without noticing they were empty. It was only when we asked for a refill did we get one. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant ones from a box. The remainder of the food was good but not as extraordinary as their ability to conceal their prices.

If you are on LBI, you must eat at Dune 18. The owner and his wife run the show and have a fantastic staff. I’m not a seafood eater, but tried the scallops with coconut rice and curry. It was literally a flavorful delight. Truly, I’ve never tasted anything like it before and will definitely order it again. I was totally impressed. My mom, wife, and son all had a different meal and all of us were more than satisfied. Generous portions and all had unique flavors. The owner stops at every table and wants everyone to leave happy. This was my 2nd time here, definitely put it in your list.

Been to Dune18 several times, never had a bad meal or service until recently. On Thursday September 4th we had 730p dinner reservations waited over 15 minutes to be noticed/checked in. We didn't realize menu switched over to prix fixed. Was dissappionted couldn't order my favorite Faroe Salmon. Ordered chix dumpling as app hubby got shrimp tempura both were good, ordered roasted beet salad was not edible, the salad/lettuce was warm , so much dressing it was wilted and slimy and cesar salad same thing as if both sat out for a while. Mains braised short ribs with pappardelle pasta, not sure where the pasta was maybe 8 pieces if that, was barely warm/room temperature was lacking seasoning/flavor and taste, ended up dumping alot of parmasen cheese on it for flavor. Hubby got parm cod was good. Desert, was told out of Desert by waitress saved my last slice of cheesecake that was warm and the whipped cream next to it melted and was on caramel sauce which was terrible, nothing to offer my hubby but a bowl of icecream but yet the waitress went to table of 8 locals next to us and offered a variety of deserts including cheesecake. I confronted her and she said because they ran out of Desert Chef said to offer open Desert menu. Her demeanor changed towards us as not friendly anymore. Cheesecake magically became available Black and white cake and red velvet cake were offered to all customers except My husband still was not offered this. He was the only customer in the entire restaurant with a bowl of icecream. We were not happy. She brought bill and then totally ignored us for over 15 minutes but psseed our table many time's gave te party of 8 all the attention and even took their bill before our even though they were seated after us and we've been waiting a while.

We were not treated equally and as will never go back during prefixe menu. Let alone we were just at the restaurant 2 weeks ago and had a fabulous meal...

My family and I had a very disappointing experience at Dune 18 this week. When I arrived to check in, it took about 5 minutes before the hostess, who we later found out is the owner’s wife, acknowledged myself and husband. After I gave her my name for the reservation she responded in an annoyed tone that “You’re ten minutes late. I’ll see if your table is available.”

It’s worth noting that we’ve been going to Dune 18 for years. Our table has almost never been ready when we arrive on time. Last summer we waited 45 minutes to be seated for a reservation (and we arrived on time). We never received an apology & we didn’t complain as we understand that things operate differently on LBI. It was really frustrating to be 5 minutes late and to receive that type of greeting. Lastly, their reservation system states a 15 minute grace period for reservations.

As the hostess walks through the restaurant to check our table, she stops to chat at another table for about a minute. When she comes back she tells me we can “go outside and go all the way to the back” but doesn’t specify what table we should actually be going to.

Once seated, we were hoping to shake out the icy greeting and enjoy a good meal. Unfortunately, we experienced more frustrations: We never received the bread after asking 3 different times. We had to ask 4 different people for water before actually receiving a second glass. We ordered a side of fries but they never came. The flatbread was undercooked & soggy. We tried asking for pepper for our wedge salad, but it was never brought to us or offered.

It’s a shame this was our experience as we are typically frequent visitors. The tone and greeting we received from the owners wife was unacceptable. We will not be going back and feel it’s important for others to be aware of this prior to making a...

Awful service, hostess, and food. We had a reservation for 7:30pm and did not get seated until 8:15 even though we talked to and saw multiple parties who did not have a reservation (and were the same amount of people and more) get right in. This was of course annoying, but we continued to give the place a chance since we have had a great experience a few weeks ago. We finally get seated at 8:15 and did not get served anything until 9:00pm. Mind you there were 6 of us and we watched two other tables of more than 6 get seated, served, and leave before us. The entire time the hostess gave the dirtiest of looks and even talked about our table to other tables. (She would look and point at our table while talking as we overheard her.) After finally getting our food, it was absolutely horrible. First of all they had to change one of the meals due to running out of the main part (which would be totally fine but was just an added on part of this experience). The fish dinners were all over cooked and dry, and the steak dinners were very under done (did not want to send back due to not getting served for so long we did not want to wait more time). I will say that the sauces on the pasta dishes were absolutely amazing. (I think it was some lobster sauce) The other only positive parts were the one waitress we had after only meeting the original waiter once and the person who asked us about the water and took plates. (They were both very kind and actually came to the table more than once.)

Overall, we would never come back here even though we live right down the street. Very sad especially since the actual place was very nice looking and...
