For what it is, this is a great little walking area. For those of you who want a serious hike, this isn't it. But it's perfect for walking the dog, meeting a friend, or bringing the family for a healthy outdoor activity. You can very clearly see and hear the nearby traffic on white mountain blvd. There are a few choices as far as hiking paths: one paved, by the meandering creek. One dirt a little farther from the creek than the paved path. One path that goes along where the treeline and meadow meet. And a fork from the treeline path that's a little more challenging. The more challenging fork eventually reconnects to the treeline fork, via a very slippery and steep little hill that I very carefully descended. I did also follow the treeline path kind of around a bend and back into a bit of a valley. It looked like the trail kept going for quite awhile, but I kind of felt like I was on someone's property?    Read moreWe took our son (with Autism) here to get in some walking and enjoy the scenery together as a family. He handles nature a bit better when he isn't brushing aside vegetation to get through. He walked the entire paved trail with us to the end and back! There is a Frisbee golf trail on a dirt trail, the paved trail and CLEAN bathrooms right by the parking lot! ð It is handicap accessible from the parking lot to the bathrooms to the entire paved walking trail minus onc gate you have to walk around because it's always closed. I'm not sure why. I have severe Rheumatoid Arthritis and this trail I did with no problem. The meadow and creek were...
Read moreI stumbled across this beautiful little gem in the middle of Show Low on a family vacation and walked the accessible paved trail. It's easy to see the locals take pride in this meadow. It's one of the cleanest, best-kept municipal nature preserves I've ever visited. Even on a crowded day when I visited, everyone was very respectful of both people and nature. The rock art gallery was a really fun addition. Great place to visit with the whole family, as long as everyone understands Leave No Trace and helps keep the...
