Harps has plummeted in both customer service and product selection. Where this store used to be my favorite place to shop in town, I will now be sticking to Walmart Neighborhood Market for the majority of my shopping.
All three times I have gotten strawberries from Harps this summer they have been molded in the middle where you can't see from the outside of the package. Other produce such as their oranges and apples are often bruised like they have been dropped or tossed into their bins. Their meat selection is a joke, as are their gluten free and natural items.
By far the worst thing about Harps though, is the attitude. There are only a handful of staff members who seem to care about the customers, while the rest slack off and act like you are inconveniencing them by asking them to do their jobs.
Today my daughter rode in the car on the front of the cart. I watched her buckle herself in before we started shopping. While we were moving, she started to get out of the car and caught her foot under the cart. She fell on her knee. When I picked her up I examined the buckel and found an older/stronger child must have broken off the sides of the buckle making it unable to snap together. By the time we got home my daughter's knee and shin were bruised and swollen. I called the store to inform them about the buckle, and was treated with distain, hostility, and disrespect. First the woman (I didn't get her name) did not believe me that the buckle was actually broken and accused me of not knowing how to buckle in a child properly. I have two children and use carseats at least once a day. I think I know how to snap the two pieces together. It's not rocket science. Then she seemed to believe I was calling because I wanted to get money for the accident?? All I wanted was to warn them so this would not happen to another child. The buckle is clearly broken and this accident could have been much worse. You would think the safety of children would be worth something to Harps, but I suppose not.
Overall, the only reason to go to Harps anymore is their bakery (which is always stocked with yummy goodies, although I wish they would keep macaroons in stock as they are my gluten-free mother's favorite), and for Memory Lane milk. I love the idea of a customer owned market, but this...
Read moreSo I didn't shop here this visit, I just needed a quiet place to wait for school to be out so I didn't have to wait in the dreaded car pick up line. But I have shopped here in the past. I once was able to get a prescription filled that a ( ahem major national retailer . . ) couldn't fill. The staff are always helpful, and they have Betty Crocker(the kitchen witch) fluffy white frosting. ( comes in a box, you follow the directions substituting heavy cream for water (you're welcome) to die for !!!l) and let's not forget Martha Harps roles serious yum factor there. And if you need some decadent cookies, to go with your extra special ice cream (they have ALL the ice creams) they have oodles of choices. God bless, this is the place. Or if you just need a quick 15 minutes to sit quietly in the shade in your car this Harps has...
Read moreWe went into shop and my husband try to use a couple of thier digital coupons but didnt know how so he asked the cashier and she rolled her eyes and said download the app and he said he did but she just brushed him off so he went to ask the manager and he was even worse. My husband is elderly and was just asking for help. They were not busy he only counted barely a handful of people in the store with most of the employees were talking to each other. The manager was joking around with the other employee nearby. Obviously they don't care about thier customers or maybe just the old ones. In this day and age with that attitude they have lost...
