Hobby Lobby — Attraction in Simi Valley

When I first learned that the old Walmart space was being replaced by HL, it was exciting. I was relieved I wouldn’t have to drive out anymore. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed and underwhelmed when I discovered this particular store is so much smaller than others. It’s okay if you need something last minute. Such as glue or styrofoam. If you’re looking for seasonal decor, different story. You better buy it before it goes on sale because by the time it does, they’re OUT of stock!! HL has the option to order more if they so choose but this one doesn’t. I’ve inquired and always get the same answer, “no.” It didn’t take me long to realize that if it’s out of stock on the site, it’s been long gone here in Simi. So I STILL drive out to my good ol’ honey hole HL that NEVER disappoints. There are some pro’s though. The store is clean and the staff is typically friendly and helpful. HL is massive and I was really excited to know we were getting one here in Simi. I would say they don't have as big of a selection as some others I've been to but still a good one. The thing that bums me out is they don't really have coupons and if they do it's one single coupon and everything is a bit pricey. You'll get lost in there for hours and not know how you spent $80 when you just went in to get some Easter decor and scrapbook paper. They have so much home decor, cute office desk supplies, seasonal entertaining decor as well as seasonal plates/cups/serving trays/table runners/placemats. Kitchen towels, kitchen tools etc. Good art supply selection, ESPECIALLY the small acrylic paints in EVERY color. Wooden craft supplies glass craft and hobby supplies. Great artificial greenery and flowers. Go in there if you want to get some good stuff and open your pocketbook. The employees are very friendly. Sucks that they aren't open Sundays...

Today 3/29/24 6:30pm I was in Hobby Lobby Simi Valley. All was good until I waited in line to check out. The cashier as I became next in line pulled out the hidden register closed sign. I was then told by Debbie I had to go get into cashier number 1 and it was a long line already ( there was only 2 registers open now down to 1). I asked Debbie could you open another register and she was snappy to respond NO with an attitude. Many looked at Debbie who didn’t care and I said you have many staff just standing around (this is the truth) Debbie pointed to cashier line 1. Now I wait in a long line and Debbie finally gets a cashier to open up and points to others so they can decide which register and giving me a snarky look ! Debbie does not have good people skills. Stop allowing staff to stand around chatting while your customers who are the reason your open endure long long wait times !! Do a better job...
