Bamboo Cafe — Restaurant in Simi Valley

I had a solid experience at the Bamboo Cafe, which boasts a pleasant and inviting ambiance. The server was attentive, and the dishes arrived promptly. However, I noticed that all the employees, including the lead shift server, seemed emotionless and lacked a friendly attitude.

The broth was rich with robust pork and shrimp flavor, but it didn't quite capture the essence of a classic Vietnamese pho. It was missing the subtle sweetness and aromatic spice balance typically found in other pho cafes. While the garnishes were fresh, the broth's flavor profile didn’t align with my expectations. If you enjoy a highly savory and less sweet broth, you might find it appealing. However, if you’re looking for a more traditional, sweeter broth, I recommend exploring other options.

This experience will be my first and last visit to this restaurant. I chose to leave a tip despite the staff's noticeable lack of warmth or acknowledgment. We will not return here...

I really wanted to love this place. And really, there is a lot to like. The food is freshly prepared and presented beautifully. The issue I had was much of it tastes the same, using the same fish-style table sauce and similar meat marinades in many different dishes. Many of these dishes are served on a base of either vermicelli or rice. The spring rolls are basically the same vegetable components of the dinner item is wrapped up in a soft spring roll. Now I didn't try the pho which appears to be very popular. And as we left I saw a couple of diners eating what looked to be a large fried half chicken or whole chicken which look very appealing, but I didn't see it on the menu. Mmm.... Service was so different today... I wish I can mean it in a good way. I order one plate for me and a side of rice for my daughter. And a drink with boba. The food arrive to the table when I noticed no extra side of rice or the boba on my drink. I didn't say anything I shared the rice with my daughter. When they bring my bill it charged a side of rice a never got and is charging my drink with boba that was made without it. I toll the server all he said is let me fix it and just removed the items I didn't get from the receipt. He never said sorry for not getting my order right the first time. I am disappointed and there was no manager around to talk to. I will think about it before to...
