I was worried as a disabled person I wouldn't be able to get around. Turned out to be fairly easy. I couldn't quite figure out where to park, that is, where at 24th and McDonald? On the grass? The street? Anyhow, that's not a big deal since Matt taxied us up to the Grandview Ave entrance, and walking up that hill wasn't too bad, really. The angle there must be lesser than in other places. Getting around to sit was pretty easy thanks to the smart layout of Grandview Park. It's been 24 years since my last visit to Saturday in the Park. They've added Arts Alley. It looked a little tight but I think someone with a walker could get through just fine.
Even going to the food trucks was possible; that's often something I have to skip. But the organizers had so many food trucks, all in a row, that the lines were not bad! There was room to maneuver.
Near the bandshell, I saw a group of five people with walkers all together, plus some other elders and they seemed comfortable and had a good view of the stage. I liked the first three acts, especially a LOCAL kid, 17 year old singer song writer Ralph Dittman of Sioux City! His band seemed young too but really professional sounding. Ghostcat was good too.
So that's the handicapped lowdown for people with walkers. We needed one person to do the disability review. Though I never tried to get to Second Stage, I feel I can comfortably recommend Saturday in the Park to disabled individuals seeking a live music festival. Good...
Read moreThis was my first time going since I moved here. Be prepared to walk a lot, spend a lot, sweat a lot and possibly be hit by a phone or shoe. No outside food or drinks. Not a lot of shaded areas and the areas that were shaded were far from the stages. Definitely could have done better securing the stages and performers. Maybe more fans and misters would have been nice for them. The performers did great, all things considered. The people of this city are appalling. Half were decent good crowd and the other half, absolutely no respect. Throwing water, shoes, phones, clothes, etc at the performers on stage. People were pushing and shoving and actually fighting in the crowd! The gates in front of the stage should have been more secure and definitely should have had a lot more security for the bigger artists that performed! Thankful for the artists that performed, they did amazing. The city and people of this city,...
Read moreThis is the second time we have gone. It's alot of fun. Lots of good food. A big area for kids to play in bounce houses slides etc and lots of bands. Some I'd never heard of and a few I have. Admission is free so that's a plus and the food etc is a decent price so it doesn't totally break the bank. I'll definitely...
