I visited this park about six months after the October wildfires. The park was smack in the middle of the inferno and pretty much completely burnt. When I came here you could still tell there had been a terrible fire if you kept your eyes open, but mainly what we saw was fresh green and new growth everywhere. Nature is sure bouncing back. Wildflower galore! It was fantastic. We finally left the main paved path (very good for wheelchairs) and walked along smaller trails up the hills. Scars of the fire were visible on the many manzanitas and madrones, but it wasn't terrible at all. Rather I thought it was so interesting to see how nature heals itself. Read moreBeautiful place. Very happy I went, mid morning on a weekday, not too crowded, parking on the side of the road was a nightmare and my friend who's an oncology nurse got a ticket for parking in a fire lane when she did not.. no red curb markings or signs to be seen anywhere and didn't block anything... all in all it was a beautiful place! Lots of wild flowers and the lake was very nice! You're not allowed to swim or do anything like that which Is kind of lame but that's california for you... i was also happy to see there was only a few dog poop bags on the trail... so many of the local hiking places are littered with dog poop bags these...
Read moreExcellent place to take your dog and have a nice hike with some beautiful views. Went around on the cougar trail and up the woodland star trail and back down around the lake. Very nice trails and decent grades to give a workout. Not that crowded which was a plus and did not have a single mountain bike on the trails we were on! Lots of people had dogs with them so be careful if you happen to have a dog that might be aggressive since some of the trails are very narrow. There was hardly any poop stations on the trails so bring extra bags if you have a dog with you. Right now there were flowers blooming all over, which made for some...
