Wow! We found this place searching for family hiking spots around Lake Tahoe… the reviews there hinted at a hidden gem and boy do we agree!!! On a Monday the historic tours were unavailable but we were still able to walk around and read informative signs and admire the architecture. What a dreamy place anyone ever got to call home! Wow. We most enjoyed our walk to the visitor center and around Rainbow Boardwalk trail (be very bear aware - signs post advising not to bring ANY food whatsoever) which takes you through marshland of Taylor creek - it’s accessible and beautiful too. Aspens galore! Beaver dams. We continued onto Kiva Beach which was breathtaking and fun for kids and dogs alike. Dogs are not allowed on the rainbow trail but are allowed on Kiva beach. From the beach we followed the trail back to Tallac historic sites and it was beautiful the whole while. All ages can enjoy this spot and we highly recommend! Parking was very easy on a Monday in June and I imagine it never gets impossible to park with 2 large lots available and it not making many highlight lists … of which I disagree! We did this midday and then headed north to inspiration point and Sugar Pine Point State Park for...

I absolutely loved this place this is state was very nice there are several things to see I bet you can probably see more if there isn't any snow however it was beautiful because everything was covered in snow you got to go on the dock what used to be their dock or pier and it was covered with snow but it was beautiful you had a great view of the mountains covered in snow and the top of The Boathouse and the Cottages what's no a lot of people come here to walk and they also bring their dogs if you do bring your best friends with you please be sure to pick up after them and take it with you please don't leave it behind. There aren't Mini heels or anything like that but there is a lot of walking involved because there are several things to see so bring some comfortable shoes if it's sunny a hat because the sun is very strong here you feel nice and warm but before you know it you will be sunburned. And also if it is not sunny and make sure you bring a very warm jacket and a beanie because it does get quite cold I had to park the car away at the gate because the road was closed due to the snow. It was I think a little over a...

Spent a few hours wandering around this historic site, learning about the developers of the area in bringing tourism to South Lake Tahoe, to the women who played a large role. Visited the museum within the "Lucky" Baldwin home, and the Pope home. There is a mostly shaded path between the back of the homes. The third home, Valhalla, was off limits due to a private event. I especially loved how "Lucky's" daughter eventually razed the entire hotel to help protect the lake. Highly recommend. There were people who came just to sit in their lawn chairs along the shore as well. The Pope home had specific hours for tours, so we were unable to enter the home.
