If the scheduled feeding is 10:30am....plan to arrive at least 30minutes before that. The entry is manned by 1 volunteer/staffer. The gift shop and staff have a pretty funny vibe. For instance, deep in the shop you'll find a cat postcard...why? For laughs. Does anyone buy the cat postcard at a sea turtle rescue place? I mean, maybe. I'm sure there's some funny story behind it. But all we noticed was the funny juxtaposition of it all. Beautiful aquarium inside, several large tanks outside, and open air amphitheatre. There's a brief little boardwalk over shallow water where you can see plants and minnows - guessing an occasional bird or snake too... but we didn't notice any. The turtle getting fed when we were there was missing a flipper and didn't really have much sight left either...so it had to fight fish in their tank to eat the shrimp from the trainer/staff/volunteer/person. Made my heart a little sad. But also was a bit moving and caused some donors to pledge support. Great operation. Check feeding or info/animal encounter schedule before visiting. If you visit when nothing is scheduled - you'll be done very very quickly. Half the magic is hearing about the mission from passionate advocates.

This incredible rescue and rehabilitation center is dedicated to the conservation of sea turtles, and visiting it is both an educational and heartwarming experience. The staff and volunteers are exceptionally knowledgeable and passionate, sharing their stories about the turtles in their care. The facility is well-maintained, with informative exhibits that detail the life cycle and challenges faced by sea turtles. The interactive displays and observation areas allow visitors to see the turtles up close, making it a truly engaging experience for all ages. The gift shop was also full of stuff like stickers, mugs, shirts and more. A visit to Sea Turtle, Inc is a must for anyone visiting South Padre Island. It’s an enriching experience that highlights the importance of wildlife conservation and leaves you with a deep appreciation for these majestic creatures. Highly recommended!

We stayed at the hotel right across the street (Courtyard Marriott) so we discovered this place on accident. Line was pretty long but it moves quickly! Please keep in mind when visiting THEY ONLY ACCEPT CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS! I wish I had known this before we got in line or at least signs outside but thankfully I brought my credit card with me. the place is quite small with a small gift shop inside as well. A little chaotic inside (we visited during Spring Break) too many people my kids and I couldn't see any exhibits or any information about the Sea Turtles and what they do because it was too crowded people blocking what you can view. So we stepped outside and walked to the rehabilitation center which was the cool part. We got to see sea turtles who were rescued and some of them were HUGE! My kids have never seen a sea turtle up close especially ones so big. Overall we were in and out in less than 20 minutes. I love the work they are doing, however i wish there was more a learning/educational opportunity for my kids. I didn't really see any staff present where I or my kids could ask them questions.

And for my girl's Birthday. I wanted to give her an up close and personal experience with her favorite animal, the sea turtle and come to find out. She had no idea they had something like this in the state of Texas. To rehab to temporary hospital. They even have small auditorium presentations of the information on what they do here and what they do for the sea turtles. It's something extremely gratifying that something out there is like this not only to help but to protect sea turtles. I can tell you without a doubt, she had a blast. Not only learn of what they do here, but to be mere feet away from her favorite animal. There's no doubt, we will definitely be back. Thank you for this experience!! P.S. She adopted Cowgirl!!

This was the highlight of our vacation! I happened across this on a website and we decided to give it a shot. Our 3yr old had a BLAST and my husband and I now feel like turtle experts, lol. They had TONS of info and you can tell this is really their passion! Admission is by donation - recommended $4 per adult, $2 per child. They are opening a new facility this year and I think admission pricing will go up but based on the experience we had at the current center it would have been worth much more than the suggested donation! We saw so many turtles and were even able to watch them feed them and they pulled one female out for a quick biopsy. Too fun!

My husband and I went this fall and loved the informational session at 11:30. It's powerful to hear about the founder's one person actions from her backyard that set in motion this whole rescue operation that continues to this day. What a powerful change maker! We went back with the kids this week and learned a lot. Even though we couldn't stay late enough for the presentation, the local volunteer from the UP of Michigan gave us so much behind the scenes info as we toured the tanks of the residents. She really made our experience a whole lot more educational, and we appreciated both her knowledge and friendly attitude.
