The experience began when we waited at the hostess stand with no acknowledgement for 15 minutes. The staff was running around looking disorganized, and there was absolutely no friendliness whatsoever for us or anyone else who was standing there waiting for a table. They seem to be have no system of closing people out or seating them. When we were finally sat, the waitress let us know that they don't have any flour tortillas, but asked us if we wanted "handmade" or "out of a bag". She took our drink orders and told us to give her our food order at the same time, so in a rush, we all ordered. I was surprised when she brought my sweet tea, and I took a sip of it... There's no doubt in my mind that it was Lipton's ice tea, from powder! We waited another 30 minutes and every time she rushed by our table. I tried to get her attention to ask for chips and salsa as our orders seem to be taking forever. It seemed like a true inconvenience to her to bring us the chips and salsa. Another 30 minutes go by and we finally have our food orders. While we were waiting the table next to us who got sat at the same time looked over at us and said "this is really bad service". They brought our orders out at the same time, an hour after we were sat. The food, although not terrible, was definitely not worth an hour wait. It Was warm at best, but definitely not hot. It is pretty clear that the restaurant does not care much for customer service. I did notice that they were treating some customers a bit different than they treated us or even the table next to us. Perhaps those customers are locals or regulars. (Which I totally get, but you would at least hope that if an industry such as tourism gives your business a constant stream of revenue you might be, just at bare minimum, not...

Horrible experience. My family and I were over charged, since they do not give you a receipt with costs per item, they just send it via email with total cost you don’t really know what you are paying for, which is why I guess they take advantage to overcharge, they do not communicate over “additional” costs added. Make sure you watch out for extra charges, even though we were a big group we only realized because my husband is an accountant and he is good with numbers, but they do it in such a “subtle” way that you may not catch it. The person in charge has zero customer service skills, she was rude and discriminative even though they knew they were incorrect, obviously she had to return our money that was overcharged because we literally had to do calculations using a calculator with her and she realized she was wrong and still had the audacity to treat us wrongfully and didn’t even receive and apology. Also, she was racist by saying to my husband “maybe in Mexico theu charge you differently” which my husband responded by telling her I don’t live in Mexico, I live here! How freaken dumb can a person be to make such assumptions, even though we do have a Mexican background and well spoken in Spanish because it is our native language, that shouldn’t give you an assumption of what we know or don’t, since we do live here, we do know costs and charges, this is called racism, and being that she was a Spanish speaker as well, makes it even worse. I never leave extensive reviews but this place deserved it. Overall, don’t go to this place, even if the food is decent this unethical actions leave for a...

So we went to breakfast at about 11 am, my brother and sister in law really like this place. We arrived and were looking for a handicap ramp to the restaurant door since my daughter is in a wheelchair but there was not one. It's no big deal we went in, and a out of a total of maybe 12 customers, we were 6. We sat down order our drinks, drinks came, then we ordered our food, the waitress came back to inform us that they ran out of eggs, so we all had to change our order, no big deal. The waitress checked on us, and then the food came out. It was good my wife loved the menudo, by this time my brother and I only have about 1/4 glass of drink and our waitress never asked if we need a refill (so we just drank our TAP water) she never came to check on us or anything after the food came out. I went to go pay, and the girl behind the counter started going over the bill she got to the waters (all of us got one) she hits the calculator, and I ask, but I thought the water was free, and she says no just continued to add them to our bill and I tell her we didn't get bottle water, then she says OK and I'll add the gratuity since it's a party of 6 and I told her if you look at the ticket we had 5 drinks, 5 plates, the othet is my special needs daughter (doesn't eat or drink) but she said but she was...

Dona Carmen's #4 in South Padre Island offers a delightful breakfast experience with their fresh, handmade, large tortillas filled generously with a flavorful combination of potatoes and scrambled eggs. The star of the show is undoubtedly the green salsa—spicy and creamy, it adds a burst of flavor to every bite. The accompanying chips complement the eggs perfectly, providing a satisfying crunch. For breakfast taco enthusiasts, this spot is a must-visit, delivering a harmonious blend of textures and tastes. Dona Carmen's #4 stands out for its attention to detail in crafting a delicious morning meal, making it an ideal destination for those craving exceptional breakfast tacos.

Huevos Divorciado was my dish everything was delicious but my eggs where cold ( probably from being busy or waiting on the other plates. Had to pay separate for a tortilla shell. My wife had a vegetarian omelette she said everything was great. Prices where avg for being on South Padre Island. It was very busy so service was slow to start but we received our food promptly.

First time at this location. The food was good and the flour tortilla was amazing. They were out of chorizo so we were not able to order the choriqueso. Not sure how a Mexican restaurant can be out of a main ingredient. 🤔 Update 7/22/22 came back and this time they had chorizo.
