So I deleted my previous review, because it wasnt fair. It was based on not being able to get a pizza on a several occasions without the wait being over 2 hours.
Soooo, I deleted it. I thought I would give you a fair chance....having eaten here now. I feel I can give a fair review that isn't simply "trying to tear down a small business". I've been here and had the pizza.
And all said and done its gonna be a pass for a while. I stopped in on a Monday afternoon to try a few slices. I got a buffalo, a pepperoni and a white slice. $13, reasonable price, compared to say Pies on Nine where you're going to pay about the same price.
The BIG difference, the size of the slices. If I get 3 slices at Pies I usually can eat two and struggle with the third. Here at Pacidoughs, I had three and went home and was hungry 20 minutes later. The slices were tiny. They looked like a slice of an eight cut pizza. The pepperoni slice was the size you'd get from a dominos medium pizza. I was in my car on the way home before I actually opened the box to take a look at what I got. So no I didnt say anything in store. Buttt.....this is the Jersey Shore and how many pizza by the slice places are there around here where you pay $4 bucks and get a slice larger then your head. Granted it's shore pizza so it's not the best pizza in the world but still, I was really, really surpirsed by this.
Now, dont get me wrong the pizza tasted great. The buffalo slice was by far the best I've had around. The pepperoni was your typical pepperoni slice, it was about what you expect. The white was good had a nice hit of garlic and some fresh basil and plenty of ricotta. So Im reslly not complaining about the taste. They do s good job on flavor.
BUT....when you look at the totality of this place. The small size of their slices, the price being equal to all other slice shops in the area and the exceptional long wait times to order whole pies...my family will be giving Pacidoughs a pass.
I really do hope they can get things figured out. I really would love to make their buffalo chicken pizza a regular item in my familys take out arsenal. But there's plenty of places right down the road that do just as good a job if not a better but with far less...
Read moreMy son shared Dave Portnoy's recent video/review of PaciDough's Pizza Joint in Toms River with me yesterday, the 1st of March. I love watching Portnoy's reviews as I'm a huge fan of his. Since my son and I happened to be at our beach house in Toms River for the weekend, and we haven't found any decent pizza down here other than at the boardwalk in Point Pleasant, we hopped in the car and went to Pacidough's. It was quite the scene! At 6 PM, they were already sold out of pizza (due to the Barstool review, I'm sure). It was great, though. Everybody who came in was congratulating the owner about the visit from Portnoy. Luckily, I thought of asking if they still had any small pizzas, and they did! We literally had to wait 45 minutes for the pizza, but I didn't care. I was going to try this pizza at all costs. It was fun to sit inside and watch the scene. It's definitely a family operation with the owner making the pizza and his wife and wife's sister manning the phones and working very hard. The phone never stopped ringing the whole time we were there, and even though they were so busy (turning people away because they had no pizzas left to sell), they were extremely nice to everybody. Finally, our pizza came! We got 2 piping hot plain small pizzas (which were basically as big as a Federici's large), and I LOVED the pizza. Dave Portnoy rated the pizza an 8.2 I think, and my rating on a scale of 1 to 10 is an 8.5 (not that anybody cares what my rating is!) It's a really thin crust pizza, which I love, and it has a perfect proportion of sauce to dough to cheese. The sauce, just like Dave Portnoy says, is a little sweet, and I love that! The dough is the real deal, and when you get to those bites at the end, you can taste the homemade yeasty goodness with just the right amount of crunch and fluffiness. The cheese tasted legit and there wasn't too much of it. The pizza was so good that I ate basically the entire small pizza. Like I said, it's much better than any other pizza I've had down here including Little Mia's, Lennie's, and Denino's South. Needless to say, we will definitely be going back to PaciDough's...

It really surprises me that businesses don’t understand the power of a first impression. I waited an hour and 45 minutes after being told that my pie, wings and salad will be delivered in 45 minutes. For context this was on a Saturdays night, without a holiday.
The pizza (1/5) This is what led me to google reviews. I saw - 4.8 and new to the area, so why not give this place a try? I ordered the grandpa pie, grandma style. To make this simple, I thought I was biting into a ellios frozen pizza. If you don’t know what that is, you’re probably too young to know what good pizza tastes like lol. Dough was dry, sauce is flavorless and the cheese is almost nonexistent. Presentation would get a negative score. In authentically surprised that someone would send out food in the way that this pie arrived.
Wings (3/5) Not at all the worst, but also not anything to write home about. Flavor of the New Orleans style is very good but lacks a little more heat. I wouldn’t call them the worst by any means, but I won’t be ordering them again.
Salad (4/5) My girlfriend enjoyed the crossed and confused salad. However, she hated the lemon vinaigrette and she is really not hard to please. The chicken was tasteful and tender. I wanted to give another star for the salad but I couldn’t bring myself to do it knowing that most customers are coming here for the pizza.
Otherwise the names of the dishes are very unique and fun. It’s unfortunate that they couldn’t deliver both quality food that represents the creativity in the name.
Don’t recommend to anyone who wants a good...
