I originally started out on a three day trial in which a rude, lying and disrespectful female manager had lied directly to my face telling me that it was only a one day trial. In which, it turned out to be a three day trial. I did enjoy the trial offer, getting me familiarized with the location, its clientele & equipment. Yesterday, May 13, I came into the gym and paid the appropriate fees and received my key fab. I came in today with my son, and yet again was approached by this very rude individual telling us that my son was not allowed to assist me with any equipment because TECHNICALLY it was TRAINING ME. To my surprise I have noticed that every where I look, I see others even strangers helping one another out. So if this is the case wouldn't this be a INDIVIDUAL training session? The female manager with long black hair of middle eastern descent began following us around the gym harassing the both of us. Continuing to be immature, argumentative and making sure to escalate the situation. Then about 20 minutes later, I see the two police officers come thru the front door and this woman blatantly lies about what had happened. My son & I had asked her for the owners info and she walks over and hands me the owners email address. Not a physical phone number for me to call. She became angry telling me that she didn't have to answer us anymore, walking away telling me to shut my mouth while entering a door near bootcamp room slamming the door. The police came in and spoke to her then spoke to us telling us they were on our side. They asked her if they came in with each other and they were to assist each other would that be a problem? The female manager says yes. This woman lied to the police and told them the owner ask us to leave. I HAVE NEVER EVER BEEN SO HUMILIATED IN MY LIFE THIS WAY. I asked for the owner's info for the officer so I can contact him. We left the location, then I called the owner named Chris Kako telling him what the face (manager) of his business had done. He didn't know anything about her calling the police to kick us out. We didn't do anything wrong. They should rewind the camera's in the gym to see exactly how this manager approached and treated us with total disregard. In addition to, other members kept saying not to deal with her because she was nasty & mean; to talk with Chris. But at this time we weren't given this option from her until after we were already kicked out of the gym. The owner of this location says he will get back to me tomorrow morning. Unfortunately, this is a very sad situation that a son can not show his own mother how to use the equipment without the gym telling me that I have to pay for a trainer. Lastly, we would like our money totally refunded as soon as possible. Btw, this female manager did the exact same thing to two other members just last week. It's really starting to look like this manager treats a lot of the members this way. Not good for the business or the franchise. The last three people that posted a review were all from 4 months ago where they all seem to have reviewed many powerhouse gyms in the area at the same time. You can click on their name and see their other reviews. Most people do not review the same place at many different locations in a row. I smell a false rating booster.
Dirty and very unclean they don't even put a real cleaning solution in the bottles. The bathroom is filthy! The owner Chris Kakos overcharges your account if you do not pay attention! I've seen him charge members who have cancelled a year ago. He still had their credit card information and he ran it regardless! Do not trust this man with your credit card information. He has sent people to collection who had a PIF. PIF stands for paid in full. They pay for a year up front and he sent them to collection as if they had a month to month membership and cancelled on him. The owner, Chris Kakos is a flat-out thief. Watch your bank account carefully for month to month over charges.
Old and damaged equipment is a frequent occurrence with no signs of repair. Missing equipment is common as well. Men’s locker room is rarely sanitized leaving a bad odor most of the day. Sauna wasn’t fixed for two weeks when I first joined. People try to sell you their energy drinks/ health drinks within the gym and outside of the gym. There's never a manager to speak with meaning the employees don’t have authority to revise any of your account information. Specifically, if you wanted to cancel your membership only the manager is able to do it.
annual gym fees charged right away one month into starting membership. This annual charge is $60 so basically you pay first month, last month and annual fee of $60 all within your first two months joining. How does an establishment no matter when you call never has a supervisor or manager available to speak with. Supervisor specifically tries to stay away so people can’t cancel memberships and equipment doesn’t get fixed.
Speaking from experience, please be warned about this Power South Field Location. The lady that signed me up when I first joined was named Shantel. She sold me a deal that was not even one of the standard deals power house offers. I was later told that it was a “temporary online” deal. Sign up consists of paying first and last month up front and paying an annual fee of $60 a month into it. I was told my plan was a month to month plan but Shantel ended up making me sign into a contract. She falsified information and changed prices to try and charge more money. I’m in competitive bodybuilding I’ve trained at powerhouse gyms in California and Florida never experienced customer service like this ever in a gym . I signed up online went in to get my access card the rude lady at the counter gave me so much attitude that I decided to cancel on the spot . She couldn’t find my account claiming I wasn’t in there system but my bank account and membership number said otherwise. I tried getting in touch with the owner Chris and didn’t get a reply very unprofessional. So long story short please do your research before thinking about joining this gym go In there and meet these people who so called work there don’t bother calling because your call will not be answered also have a patience because no one will be at the counter to greet you.
