Interesting piece of American history. It shocks me that this was not publicized more and made into a larger protected area instead of being surrounded by neighborhoods. There is no parking, just park on the side of the road in front of the sign. Follow the trail up the somewhat steep hill that leads you to the fort's remnants. A few informational signs show you what the area was in the Civil War and who was in charge and so forth. Being as close to I-10 as this is, it should have been made into a larger park...

It's basically a sad romanticized shrine to the confederacy hidden away in the woods made by/for the people who still say "The South will rise again." Other than seeing the cool earthly foundations for the fort and the nice firepit, I wouldn't recommend going there unless you want to soak in a twisted view of the past.
