I stopped by here to check the place out after I'd moved to Bay Minette.
The shop is split between two sides: trading card games and sports cards.
I don't know anything about sports cards, but that side seems pretty fleshed out. I think I saw the owner of that side running an online opening of some sort?
As far as the trading card half, they seem to have an extensive collection of multiple titles. Their main, however, is Magic The Gathering. They do have Pokémon, Lorcana, Star Wars Unlimited, and quite a few more.
Up front, they have singles on display for purchase ranging from $1+. They also carry booster packs, bundles, and boxes. I also saw a "value pack" that appeared to be made by the store, which I imagine contains several value items in a "mystery" bundle.
They accept trades, and when I sold my cards, I believe I was given a fair price. Obviously, they are going to take a bit and take card condition into account, but overall, I was very happy. For instance, I sold a Thassa's Oracle and another similarly priced card (I believe they were both around $23-25 at the time) for $40. Which I'd say is about as good as you're going to get without having to handle the hassle of shipping.
For play, they host tournaments, events, and have regular play days like Friday Night Magic. They have seating in the form of several long tables with chairs, and I believe a few more near the front. On packed days, it might get a little tight, but it's certainly manageable and playable.
Staff seemed friendly and well versed in the materials they handled while also being up to date on current trends. They were able to answer any/all questions I had about specifics regarding MtG.
They do have a dog that is really friendly that they sometimes have in the store. I personally love animals, and I think it added to my experience. If you're scared of dogs for whatever reason, just know he's there sometimes, but he is absolutely a...
Read moreThis place sucks. I’m from the northeast and these rednecks tried to scam me $105 for an UNOPENED pack of series 2 mewtwo cover cards, and they gave me $5 for a 1999 holographic magneton. Do your own research to see how much they are worth. Not to mention the adult child in black hair who watched me unpack my box in the parking lot not knowing I had DOZENS of more unopened packs I sell for even more and just wanted to see how much 1 is. I took 2 packs out, one unopened and one opened just to see the difference. They finessed themselves believe in that 3x karma rule. You just cost yourselves a month supply of whatever you are smoking plus hundreds maybe thousands. Not surprised it’s Alabama. Play smarter next time. Nevermind the rude customer service and how the girl didn’t even ask for a price just took the pack and handed me cash without confirming which I don’t know is even legal. It took her 10 minutes for her “boss” to determine how much they are worth. But yeah overall I’d pass. Not very friendly either they all look at you like you came from Pluto if you dress somewhat clean. I have places in the New York/Baltimore area willing to actually be fair, so enjoy your $200 profit when really you just technically lost about...
Read moreI have always had great dealings with the co-owner of this business who works the video game side of things. I’ve taken my children there for over four years now to purchase packs of Pokémon and buy used video games. They have the best prices of anyone on both, especially the video games! I have done a significant amount of bartering and selling to them, too, when I no longer had a need for my classic consoles (NES, SNES, etc.). They pay more for video games than GameStop and sell them for less. This is an objective fact. Any review that is negative appears to be about their online presence, which I cannot speak to. In terms of in-person dealings they have always been favorable with me. They have a variety of products, including sports cards and memorabilia, Pokémon and Magic cards, and retro and current video games for all systems. They also have a guy there who buys precious metals. I’d say give them a shot. I am glad to have them around. I certainly own a lot more video games because of their exceedingly competitive prices and consistent positive...
