If you’re a guy buying an engagement ring for the first time, or maybe it’s your second or even third time buying a ring….then you can completely relate to how daunting the task really is. What will she like? What are the differences between this diamond versus that diamond, etc. Cut, Color, Clarity, etc….the list goes on….The thoughts race through your head constantly, probably because it’s one of the biggest life purchases any man will pull the trigger on. Going into my ring purchase, I had those same thoughts and mindset.

That was until after I completed my purchase with Skatell’s Jewelers of Spartanburg, SC. Their customer service is hands down the best in the business. Trust me, I spent almost two months at a competitor looking for exactly what I wanted. I even went to Atlanta in search of rings. After I had narrowed it down to exactly what I was looking for in a diamond, I wanted to look online just to be sure I wasn’t getting ripped off on the price…and this was just after I left the competitor’s store for probably the 18th time.

I had even put an initial down payment on a loose stone with this anonymous store, but again, I wanted to look for similar diamonds and compare prices. As it so happens, I ended up finding the same exact stone on Price Scope, available through another 3rd party because the GIA certificate number was the exact same from the store when comparing it online. I thought to myself, “how could this be, when it’s in already in their inventory and vault with my name on it?”

The price I found online was $2,900 cheaper than what I had put a down payment on. I was outraged.

After telling my story to a friend, he referred me to the owner at Skatell’s Jewelers in Spartanburg, SC. After meeting with her, I went and got a full refund from the competitor store.....and began my experience with Skatell’s.

They actually care about their customers, and she only wants you to be happy with your experience. Their quality of diamonds, settings, and materials they use are surpassed by none. I was even a difficult customer because the ring I requested them to make was a custom design. It didn’t matter. They even sent me Computer Aided Design Drawings (CAD) of both the setting and the wedding band.

This is actually my first Google review ever, and I don’t usually take the time to write reviews like these, but I wanted to ensure that every man out there who found the initial experience of buying an engagement ring overwhelming to be able to have the experience I did with the process. The staff is very friendly and willing to go that extra mile to make sure that your experience is a one of a kind experience. I recently wanted to buy an engagement ring for my wife as I didn't get her one prior to our wedding. As most of us do, I used the internet for my search. It is an easy/fast way to search. However, there are many sites that promise the moon but either can't deliver, sound to good to be true (and usually are after you investigate them) and we loose that personal touch. I found Skatells website, made an inquiry and was contacted by the owner Beth Owens. I told her what I wanted and the price range I was interested in. She was very patient with me, never tried to steer me in any particular direction, provided several options for my consideration and gave me an education in Diamonds 101!
