I have used PFI for many years (over 30) for everything from authentic bandanas to all of the boots I have ever owned. Same with my late father. My last experience however, was the most interesting. I finally saved up and had enough money to buy my "dream" boots. I knew what I wanted based on what I had seen on your online store. Upon looking through the in store stock, it seems you all don't like round toe boots much, my personal favorite. When looking around there was a large bald man sitting, yes sitting on a display and conversing with another man. My wife interrupted their conversation to ask about an item we were interested in and was told, we don't carry that and you need to buy it online. She asked about helping us find something special that we were looking for and told, while he was still sitting, acting perturbed, "you just need to go online." Then he stated, "sizes are going to be different and you'll just have to try them and send them back if they don't fit." Hello, that's why we were in the store. We made a special trip to try them on in person. Well, shortening the story, a young man came over and had a couple of ideas for me and had me try on some different boots. He then, after listening to me for a minute, brought a pair of $900 osterich boots to me that absolutely was what I was looking for and fit like a glove. His extra effort and expertise made him what I am sure was a nice commission that day.
Unfortunately, big baldy missed out on a nice sale and future business that I may do, It did sound like he is well up on current events though. I am thinking strongly of buying another pair that the young man showed us.
I have to say, overall, I was disappointed in the in-store selection compared to online. Very few choices when it comes to traditional round toe boots. I guess they're becoming rare. I just simply can't stnad square toed boots, although my new pair are the tac toe and I'm pleased.
If you are going in the store ask for the young guy for boots and look elsewhere if you are an old guy looking for traditional round...
Read moreI've been going to PFI for western wear for years. I was disappointed it sold to Cavender's, but I thought I would give it a try when my granddaughter needed new paddock boots for her equestrian lessons. I'm afraid I was terribly disappointed in how quickly things have went downhill. The store and parking lot isn't being maintained and at first I thought they might be closed. Weeds growing everywhere and not a presentable store front . That was just the first bad impression. We started in the saddle store where we were told they had paddock boots when we called in advance. We walked in and the girl in the front completely ignored us and acted very busy unpacking merchandise. We proceeded to try and find the boots ourselves, but it didn't appear they had footwear so we went to the apparel store. We inquired in the boot section about paddock boots and they told us they had no idea what we were talking about and they didn't carry them. What true western store, in the footwear section, doesn't know what paddock boots are referring to? I told them we called ahead and we were told they had them and I asked them to call the other store that we had just left. We were told they had them in the first store we just left, so we went back again. Same girl in front and same treatment, so we started trying to find them ourselves. We finally found them in the back corner and they had approximately 10 pairs all narrow. I was so disappointed and they wanted 159.00 for the ones they had in stock. I left and came home and bought a beautiful pair on Amazon for 40.00, plus I bought riding gloves which I couldn't locate in the store either. Terrible customer service and outrageous prices. A concrete cowboy store and I won't be back. It might also help if they try to make it presentable to the public. So sad it changed hands and thank goodness for Amazon . Randy Little ran a great store with wonderful customer service. At least if I'm going to wait on myself it's at a good...
Read moreI found a pair of boots I wanted, had some questions and decided to call PFI to order the boots. The rep told me the price of the boots and also the shipping cost that would be applied to the order. I told him that their website indicated the shipping would be free. He then informed me that the shipping is free only if you order the item online and that shipping is added for calling the order in. At that point, I told him just to cancel the order and I would purchase it from another seller. Then he said that they would pay for the shipping so we finalized the order. Later, I received an email confirming the order had shipped by FedEx and provided the tracking number. After a day and a half, I looked at the email a little closer and it stated that the item shipped via FedEx Smart Post Parcel Select. I had never heard of Smart Post so I searched it on the internet and began to read the horrible things people were writing about Smart Post and that it is a CHEAP way to ship! At that point, I called PFI and talked to a rep named Nancy. I could hardly explain why I was calling without her talking over me and really not hearing what I had to say. She transferred me to someone else who was nice but, after our discussion, I realized that the shipping was going to be very confusing. I don't get mail at my physical address so when FedEx would turn the package over to USPS, there would be a lot of confusion for delivery. I have placed many orders with Sheplers, Zappos, Cavenders, Hat Country, Stages West, and Ariat International and each of these were by phone and each of these sellers NEVER EVER said I would need to pay shipping. Two of the above shipped by air and the package was at my house next morning by 9:30am and I did not even ask them to send by air...that was their choice. I think this order will be the first and last order from PFI and I don't even have the shipment yet. I read a lot of the reviews and now I understand those that...
