I drove down from St. Louis to Springfield to attend a concert that a former student of my conducted and when finished… searched for the obligatory Mexican restaurant to eat at when in a new city! I am SO glad that I discovered Señor Julian! What a way to end such a memorable day! I was a little reticent about being able to eat here as the parking lot was full and there were patrons standing outside, but sometimes being a “party of ONE” has its benefits! “Would you be agreeable to a high table?” SURE! I was seated right away and quickly presented with chips, salsa and a tall glass of water! Having looked at the menu prior to arriving I already knew what I wished to order and told my server, Griffin, my order! I doubt that it was more than 3-4 minutes later when Griffin (¡Si! ¡Griffin! Who was great by the way!😊) brought out a hot plate with my chimichanga, rice, beans and a Pacifico! And this was no small chimichanga, folks! It was… delicious! I don’t know why more people don’t put out positive reviews because it takes just as much time to compliment as it does to criticize and I wanted to give Señor Julian their praise as quickly as I could! (I’m actually sitting in my car while STILL in the parking lot! 🤭) So… if you’re looking for authentic food, fast and friendly service… look no further! And when you DO stop in…tell Griffin that that choir director from St....

This is the first 5 star review I've given, and while I'm no expert, this establishment definitely deserves it!! Fiancé and I went here for dinner while staying at the Baymont Hotel next door while passing thru on our motorcycles. I must say that out of all the places I've eaten, this place is BY FAR THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD ANYWHERE!!! The drinks are cold (and stiff), the staff is wonderful, and the food speaks for itself.

First it is run by the whole family which is awesome to see, and they are so polite and professional. Second, the server Logan is an absolute star and was very attentive to our needs and did a great job. Third, we have the manager Nick who is a delight to talk too and gave us the perspective on the family running this place from the sister all the way up to the dad that's been cooking like 22 years and how combined the family has like 70+ years experience. And it shows in the food. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! Lastly we have Nelson.... One of the owners who took the time to talk with us as well, even in a packed house. If you are in Springfield looking for a great place to eat.... THIS IS IT!!!! Triple D needs to visit this place and help put them on the map that they deserve to be on!!! I can only hope that our motorcycle journey brings us back thru here so we can...

I recently dined at Senor Julian’s and overall, I had a positive experience. The food was undoubtedly delicious, with flavors that truly captured the essence of Mexican cuisine. However, one aspect of my visit detracted from the overall enjoyment—the uncomfortably warm temperature inside the restaurant.

Let's start with the positives. The ingredients were fresh, the spices well-balanced, and the presentation was visually appealing. I particularly recommend trying the street tacos.

While the food exceeded my expectations, I couldn't ignore the uncomfortably warm ambiance of the restaurant. The temperature inside was noticeably high, which made it somewhat challenging to fully enjoy the dining experience. It would have been more pleasant if the air conditioning or ventilation system had been more effective in maintaining a comfortable temperature.

The service provided by the staff was friendly and attentive. They were prompt in taking our orders and accommodating our large group.

The outstanding food and attentive service deserve high praise, but the discomfort caused by the warm ambiance prevents me from giving it a perfect rating. With some adjustments to the temperature control, this restaurant has the potential to provide an even more delightful...

Was so excited to try this place when I found out the owners are from my favorite Mexican restaurant in Springfield (Cesar’s Old Mexico). To start with, the salsa and Queso were amazing! Honestly, I would return just for that. Margaritas were tasty, but nothing fancy and not that strong. Fajitas were also nothing over the top, but tasted good and the homemade tortillas were delicious. Unfortunately, my experience wasn’t 5 star worthy because: 1. Our table was entirely too small for all the food and drinks we ordered. I had to move condiments and a few other things to the floor. 2. My husband’s Molcajete was not good at all. The meats were overcooked, rubbery and dry. And there was way too much nopales (cactus). Our waiter was very kind about our feedback and took the Molcajete off the bill. We had no expectation of them doing that and just wanted to give them honest feedback about our meal. I feel like this place has great potential to become a top Mexican restaurant in Springfield once they work through the kinks. Just wasn’t a good night for us.
