White Oaks Mall. My husband and I took our baby (10mo) out of the house for the first time in weeks, we went to the mall because we needed to get out of the house and baby needed new clothes. We thought about the park but hot so we didn’t goin case he’d get sick from the heat. Last time we went to the mall they just opened back up and it was completely empty. So I wasn’t worried, it thought it would still be empty. NOPE! Few people wore masks and if they did they weren’t covering their noses/mouths or they were hanging on their double chin or off their ear. it was so crowded there were lines outside the stores! Not one security guard or anyone monitoring who enters and leaves and if they have a mask on. The elevator says only strollers and wheel chairs but a bunch of teenagers were using the elevator. So many kids with out parents these kids weren’t old enough to drive or probably even be in the mall alone. Like maybe 8-14yo. Most of the stores have turned into clubbing wear, homemade stuff you see at the state fair, home remodeling, and knock off stores. I know one store for sure sells items they stole or got dumpster diving. They say it’s from stores that bought bulk or broken items but there’s no way. It’s mostly men’s sports clothes and broken kitchen gadgets. One employee said that the mall will be shutting down by next October and I...
Read moreI try to walk here a couple of times a week, its climate controlled, with security. 2 laps is supposed to equal a mile. There are still some nice shops here even though there are no real anchor stores, except maybe Dicks Sporting goods. I like Lost Worlds, Dumb Records, and some nice clothing stores. I wish some other stores could be coaxed in. Maybe they could try things they did in the past, such an antique shows, fashion shows for fall and spring, and the holidays. Years ago, they had first responders and police departments displaying vehicles and doing fingerprinting for children. A Costco would be nice or a furniture store. Update. Went to the mall today and saw the Christmas trees. It was very well done, I hope for more people to participate next year!! Maybe they could contact a train group and have them set up a christmas train. Or the mall could utilize the empty store fronts and put in some decorations in the windows. Some additional photo opportunities would also be nice. Gingerbread cookies would be a hit as would live christmas music or swing choirs. Contact schools and churches. Thank you for having...
Read moreEvery so often we have to opportunity to visit the mall and when we do there are these important places we just have to stop at: #1: Gloria Jeans-though I miss when they had a store on the top floor, the kiosk by the carousel is prime for customers. I'm a sleigh ride fan(or peppermint mocha) hot! I always have to get one and the quality is never disappointing. They don't make much so try to tip! #2: The newly arrived Killens! We use to go when they were over on the Wabash/Mcaurther bend. Then they moved to a store further down on Wabash and now have a home in the mall. Killen is a good person who wanted to do something good for kids of all ages and he does it well with this store. Even if we don't buy anything is so much fun to walk around and get good gift ideas for upcoming holidays and birthdays! We just can't get enough of this place! #3:Hot Topic! They have everything your kids are into- and the ocational great deal on merchandise. I got my son an awesome Starwars bookbag, Bendi and the ink machine pajamas, and 3 wrestling shirts for...
