I love this park! A few years ago some people from out of town pretty much burned down this park. But it was so beautifully redone and it is loved by the whole community. It's a very safe place. Don't let the incident of the fire scare you or make you feel this is an unsafe place to take your kids. It was a one time thing, several years ago, in the middle of the night, done by 2 out of state teens with too much time on their hands, and they were caught. You will see people of all ages, from all walks of life, with plenty of pets! There is a baseball field that's sometimes used. A wonderful park with plenty of swings, slides, climbing area, and everything else you can imagine! There's rubber mulch so you don't get sand in your shoes and blisters. However if they fall enough times or wear open toed shoes, there's a chance they will have black from the mulch on their feet or legs. There's also plenty of places to eat with several picnic areas. Some are covered, some are open, and there's even seating and an amphitheater area. The bathrooms are one seaters and very iffy but I mean, it's a public park, not many of them are known for perfect bathrooms. Parking can be tricky on busy days but otherwise you...
Read moreWonderful oasis of calm on the banks of the Toe River in downtown Spruce Pine, NC. Connects to downtown via the "Bridge of Doom" a pedestrian bridge over the river.
Beautiful kiddie playground complete with slides, swings, rock climbing wall, courtesy of the local Kiwanis. Lots of room for kids to run and play. A number of covered shelters along the way with grills, picnic tables, & trash. receptacles.
The park is part of a river greenway, so there's ample opportunity to stroll along the banks of the river. In the summer, it's a favorite place for kids to wade or swim. For adults, it's a great place to catch some trout. (Make sure you understand and abide by North Carolina's very confusing fishing regulations.)
This is also the spot for a ball diamond, concerts in the park in the summer, and a...
Read morePretty, modern playground right next to the river and right off a walking trail. Walking distance from downtown, with a soft ball field and plenty of benches/picnic tables available. We love taking our toddlers here. The only minor complaint we have is that some of the equipment is starting to show it's age. Still a great place to bring kids and is one of the better parks we've seen in the area.
Good selection of playground equipment for kids of all ages. Small stuff for toddlers, bigger stuff for kids and adults. Plenty of swing, bouncy rides, and climbing equipment (including a short rock wall). Play surface is a soft, deep bed of shredded tires.
In the last year a splash pad and bathroom facility have been added. Great fun for toddlers! Parking is tight on...
