This was a stop we did not plan well. Unfortunately, we did not make the ferry to cross over to the island. They have very specific times and days that they run. Definitely check their website. The visitor center was not very large but informative on some of the history. The gift shop was not staffed when we went but the Ranger on duty did his best to help. The museum down the road was nice also. Informative. The hours posted were 10-4. We arrived at 11:50 and the doors were locked. Again, the Ranger at the vc helped us out by calling the gentleman that works over there. This was in December and not busy in the nice little town.

We went in March when weather is still cool. Beautiful island with lots of trails and history. We loved seeing the wild horses. To Plum Orchid and Dungeness highly suggest the van tour offered by park services. You need to bring your own food and drinks. There is no concession stand or cafe. We plan on coming back to camp.

A must see place, the beach is breathing, buildings are so charming and horses are everywhere, very quiet and peaceful. Plenty of benches to sit on and enjoy the view

Stopped by the visitor center. Ranger was very helpful explaining tours and ferry schedule. Nice clean center. Could use more displays and a larger center for those that can’t make it to the island. And a theatre with a film about the island’s history would great too. Gift shop was nice with plenty...
