An absolute delightful coffee house in historic St. Mary's waterfront area. Homemade bakery goods that will have you drooling from the minute you walk-in. We tried 5 items today. An Iced Snow Bird (caramel and butter Pecan latte with oatmilk), a pumpkin spice frappé, and a Sugar Free chocolate drip coffee were our drink selections. FYI they have SF vanilla, chocolate, and caramel flavors. We also opted for a blueberry scone and a brown butter frosted pumpkin muffin.......ahhhhhhhmazing!!!!!
The staff was attentive, kind, and knowledgeable of their products. Owner present and greeting customers and helping out. The decor is precious!!! This is Not a chain! This is a one of a kind coffee house that offers numerous baked goods as well as some sandwiches, salads, fruit/yogurt, and other non bakery snacks (I believe i saw a cheese and Naan bread tray as well). There is legit something for everyone! They also have some limited merchandise for sale such as coffee mugs and bags of coffee.
The cakes, pies, kolaches, cake pops, cookies, brownies, muffins, scones, and biscotti all looked so good. I'm certain there are plenty of other items I'm not listing.....I believe there were some breakfast items like bagels as well.
Seating consists of 4 very comfy wing back chairs in a nook, 3 or 4 regular height tables with seating for 6. Multiple tall tables for 2 and a long tall center bar area with padded high bar stools.
Please stop in and give...
Read moreMoving from a large city to a small town can be difficult, especially when there aren’t many local coffee shops. When my husband and I first discovered Kraken, we were so excited. We’ve been several times over the last several months and have now been once a week this past month. Their baked goods are some of the best baked goods I’ve ever had in my life. They are perfect in every which way - not too sweet, just right. It feels cozy and reminds me on my grandmothers baking (might even be better, but she doesn’t need to know that). Their deliciousness is consistent and never falters. They always have a great rotation of seasonal flavors in addition to their regulars. The coffee and other drinks are also really good! Prices are very reasonable. We typically purchase 2 drinks and at least 4 items, always totaling under $40. The staff has always been so kind and helpful when making recommendations. The actual shop itself is so cute and homey, as well. The owner is also the kindest person and one of the rarest type of people I’ve met because she was helping her staff in the kitchen, always there to support them when needed. If you are ever in the area (or even if you want to make the trip), you must stop here. The blueberry bread pudding is otherworldly, the muffins are spectacular, and pretty much anything else you...
Read moreI’ve been here three times since Labor Day and I will be coming back ! The syrup options are incredibly fun and I’m glad there’s a place in town that makes lavender lattes.
Each 16 oz coffee I got is about $5.50-$7 which is reasonable for a small business and the chicken salad sandwich I get is $12 and comes with a pickle. The sandwich is good and you get to pick your own cheese and bread.
The ambiance is great ! The first time I visited, there were students studying, children on a brunch date with a parent, friends hanging out ; it’s very accommodating for all generations in St. Marys. Reminds me of the university town, mom and pop shops back home.
My only two items of feedback right now are : 1. When I order the coffee with syrup, the syrup isn’t stirred in, so if you don’t notice, you’ll take a fat gulf of it. I’d like an extra minute for them to mix it when they’re making it. 2) it’s a building problem so I’m not sure what can be done ; when you’re walking into the cafe, there’s a step there which can be forgotten when you’re leaving the shop. I’ve definitely almost tripped leaving. It may be difficult for anyone with a stroller or wheelchair to come inside too but there is some outdoor seating !
Love this place and excited to come back again for another...
