I am going to write this review based on my experience and my expectations while doing my best to not spoil the games.
1- teamwork. The first thing I want to mention is the fact that this game did not require any form of teamwork. What I mean is that we were 8 people in the room and each of us did not need anyone to solve the puzzles. For example, I expected to experience a physical teamwork such as Chaining players to one another, restricting their movement until they find a key to release themselves. Or requiring players to help each other to climb up somewhere, or using their clothes or belts to reach to an object. Or pedaling a bicycle to generate electricity while other players solving a puzzle. In short, this game could be done by one person.
2- too many, not enough work The second downside was that we were 8 people in the room and as I was observing others, at least 4 of us were doing nothing not because we didn't want to! But because there was not enough tasks for 8 people. Basically the puzzles were designed for one person and the rest of people could help or watch. Also, the puzzles were designed to be solved in order or no order, meaning it didn't require us to solve 2 or 3 puzzles at the same time to involve more players (and to build teamwork).
3- Too simple- too obvious Thirdly, the puzzles were to simple! All we did was to open a bunch of locks with some ordinary puzzles. Ok true, we did use a little bit of our brain to put some stuff in order or find a pattern, (not me because at this point I gave up on this game and only watched others), but I was expecting more! I wanted this game to challenge my intelligence not to make me solve the 2+5 equation! For example the hidden objects were simply placed inside a drawer! C'mon! Get creative! I was looking into that book sitting on the table hoping that you cut the pages and hide an object in the book. Or why didn't you make a puzzle related to the 8 players. Why didn't we use one object multiple times or in an unusual situation? Why not using knowledge which is not provided in the room?
4- no logic- no physical activity Again, I was telling myself please have something to solve with this book! I was hoping that you circled some alphabets and want us to find the clue. Or give us a clue in a Sudoko puzzle not just simply "HaHaHa" us and throw the clues. Seriously, no physical activity? No jumping, no crawling? I spent half of my life being a professional athlete for today! Let me show off my agility and eye hand coordination! Let me catch something in the air, or shoot at something or jump to reach somewhere or make all of us to stand on a platform to keep balance to find a clue! Or at least make me take my shirt off and show my six pack! I'm joking now. But seriously, it was boring ! Sorry!
5- no senses no restrictions Lastly, there was nothing to taste or smell. There was not much sound except the monitor. There was no light restriction. (Except one that I give you credit for that part). There was nothing to touch or NOT to touch to find a clue or solve a puzzle.
To finish this horrible review, I have to give you credits for 3 things that Im gonna mention secretly; the flash light, the...
Read moreSo I have been to over a dozen escape rooms, and was super excited to go to Trap't in Stamford, as I saw the online accolades. But to be honest, I was surprisingly disappointed. It wasn't the staff, they were good, just the room wasn't good. Poorly designed, weak decor, weak playability. It was the worst I have played, with the exception of a poor mall version that should not be designated as an escape room.
We did the Madman room. There were 10 people, us 2, and a group of 8 people. A good designed room in my opinion engages the full group whatever the size. Throughout the whole hour, over half the people sat around and watched, as the puzzles were one to two people, and linear. This room should max out to 6 people, tough with 8, but by them booking 10, it appears to be a money play.
I like challenging puzzles. Without giving away anything specific that would ruin another experience, These puzzles most made little congruous sense.. like no way anyone would connect the dots they were trying to connect to solve use that item here. When we solved the room, the person came in and said we used 7 clues which was good, that most people use 10 clues or more... I'm sure we used more than 7 as every clue had to ask for more clarification multiple times.. But there weren't too many puzzles, so basically virtually every puzzle needed clarifying, whats the point? I'm pretty good at escape rooms, and have done many hard ones. None or few of the hinted puzzles I said, wow, thats cool, I should've got that. Every clued puzzle I stopped and said, "really, cmon..."
Re: Decor, very basic props, low budget, hand made. I dont usually penalize a place for low decor, though appreciate technology and whistles and bells. Again, without giving up too much, didn't stop ever and say, wow, this room looks so cool. There was a cool element in last room, but wont give that away, but that was about it, and certainly not worth going just to see.
Re: Escape, we were given some extra time at the end because gamemaster said we spent too much time in room 1 which was true. But I really wasnt excited when we escaped... super anticlimactic, when usually its a high. Just no feeling of accomplishment for completign the series of puzzles.
Staff: People were really nice. Have never been to an escape room without a good staff. But that was good to see
Rooms: They say right at beginning there are multiple rooms. I love secret chambers and excitement of areas opening. But you do see all the doors, so nothing too secret in this one.
Was really excited to try another one from TRAPt though not sure I will as seem like similar designs being designed by the owner per staffmember. I have tried in stamford Deadlockd and Escape New haven which I thought has a much smoother game mechanics and...

We had heard good things about this place and decided to play Time Chasers. We felt this venue missed the mark.
Before we arrived at the venue, we encountered a few flags. There was an accident on the road, and we notified the venue 40 minutes beforehand. We were told there’s a 15 minute grace period, and thankfully we arrived well-within that timeframe the private entrance has a buzzer, no one answered when we buzzed in. We called the number on the door, which reached someone off-site. Ultimately, our on-site GM did finally open the door.
Playing the game: To start with the positives, there are many different types of puzzles and tasks, so it really gets you thinking. The decor was nice and well-produced. The negatives (in brief): our gamemaster was not attentive to our progress. We’d go as far as to say he vanished at one point. At between 35-39min timestamp, we asked for a clue several times with no response. We exited the room at one point to physically call and look for him and saw no one. the “hints” given to us were just repeating the instructions we were already stuck on. Ex: He would ask “what vials?”, “read what the instructions say” as our hints. This further proved our GM wasn’t attentive to our progress in the game. at the end of the game, when we asked our GM to explain what was supposed to happen, he appeared uninterested and bored. He didn’t ask if we had questions nor acknowledge the missing presence during the game.
Id give this experience a 2.5/5. A GM makes or breaks an experience, even if the room looks cool. This was our 4th game that day in Connecticut, and disappointed by the...
