My Daughter and I went to the Wildlife Education Center at Georgia Southern University this past weekend and it was a wonderful time. I grew up here in around this town and have been on some trips with school when I was younger, so i knew what to expect. Its not a super large zoo or anything but an awesome learning environment. It has an outdoor Wetland Reserve with its own Waterfowl Pond, a beautiful water brook, and many other outdoor walking trails to see wildlife. There are some other indoor habitats as well. There are many other events and programs available at the Wildlife Education Center, but we went on Saturday to just walked through and took pictures! It was a great afternoon activity for us to go walk and take pictures!

The Center for wildlife education is a real neat place to visit. It cost $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for kids $2.00 for seniors citizens. Children under 3 years of age are free. They have snakes, turtles, lizards, different species of ducks and birds of prey. You can walk around the 11 acre grounds and admire the wildlife that lives on the property. You can even hold a 8’ albino Burmese python. They also have owls and a Kestrel hawk on display in a habitat area. Certain times of the year they have raptor bird shows. This place is a must see educational experience for all ages.

This was a really enjoyable experience. I came not that long before closing and I got to see one of their showings. I got to take a photo with an owl, touch asnake, qnd watch a turtle pee on a guy lol. It started raining a bit but mostly was at the end and not so bad you'd need a umbrella. I took more photos than I could add and there's even a play area. Students get in for free, and there's a nice picnic area and lots of seating around. I think the only thing I couldn't see was the raptor exhibit as it's under construction I believe. A really nice experience.

I was appalled at the condition of this place and I'm horribly disappointed that university hasn't invested any money to fix this place up. There were taxidermy animals on display that were literally decaying off or the form, the armadillo in particular had an ant hill IN IT that was eating the face off of it. The very small snake inclosures inside only has 3 living snakes out of ~10 tanks and the rest were filled with plastic replicas or taxidermy. There was also an indoor tank that had 2 baby alligators and a turtle in it that they barely all fit in (I really hope it was a display tank and not their home). The aviary center was also closed when I went. I have confidence that it could be really nice...

Why would you ever think of tethering down your animals? Thats not right! They are all roaming animals. You are tethering then and giving them very little mobility. Y’all are worse then the people in jurastic park. I only saw one animal that was actually injured. I bet there is more animals dieig from no mobile and not being able to get to there water bowl from them being tethered(it is really hot ourtside that isn’t). If I was one of those birds I would die of depression and dehydration. It would be better if you had a large terrarium for all of the animals to fly/...
