My Daughter and I went to the Wildlife Education Center at Georgia Southern University this past weekend and it was a wonderful time. I grew up here in around this town and have been on some trips with school when I was younger, so i knew what to expect. Its not a super large zoo or anything but an awesome learning environment. It has an outdoor Wetland Reserve with its own Waterfowl Pond, a beautiful water brook, and many other outdoor walking trails to see wildlife. There are some other indoor habitats as well. Read moreI was appalled at the condition of this place and I'm horribly disappointed that university hasn't invested any money to fix this place up. There were taxidermy animals on display that were literally decaying off or the form, the armadillo in particular had an ant hill IN IT that was eating the face off of it. The very small snake inclosures inside only has 3 living snakes out of ~10 tanks and the rest were filled with plastic replicas or taxidermy. There was also an indoor tank that had 2 baby alligators and a turtle in it that they barely all fit in (I really hope it was a display tank and not their home). Read moreWhy would you ever think of tethering down your animals? Thats not right! They are all roaming animals. You are tethering then and giving them very little mobility. Y’all are worse then the people in jurastic park. I only saw one animal that was actually injured. I bet there is more animals dieig from no mobile and not being able to get to there water bowl from them being tethered(it is really hot ourtside that isn’t). If I was one of those birds I would die of depression and dehydration. It would be better if you had a large terrarium for all of the animals to fly/...
