So I’ve been shopping in this store for 10yrs now. So sense they were inside the shopping Mall. I would drive over an hr to go there when I lived in An Arbor and now to this day I still drive 45mins from my home to go there a buy memorabilia or pay and participate in signings like Mike Tyson and a few others. So you would think after all these years and over thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars spent in this store that I would not get racially profiled and stared at and watched like a hawk every time I come in this store. I never see any black people in this store when I go and everytime I go in there the staff makes it there business to let it be known that they are watching my every move smh and they are very rude. My Wife who is white, told me to stop going in this store and spending my hard earned money in there for years. She’s been with me several times and noticed how they treat me compared to the white shoppers that come in there. One thing I can say is the owner is nice and I’ve spoken to him over the phone about this in the past but I’ve tried to ignore the bad treatment for the past few years now but my most recent visit last night was it for me. I bought a Aden Hutchison Figure for $47 bucks. So my Wife sat in the car with our children while I shopped in the store. She watched the worker follow and watch my every single move while I looked around. An while I’m walking around with the figure I’m about to purchase, the young white guy with glasses tells me to hand him my figure he’ll hold it behind the register while I continue to look around. I gave it to him , looked around for maybe 3 mins because I was gonna buy more merchandise then I said nope I’m good and I’m over the rude staff and racial profiling I have to deal with every time I come in here alone, with my wife, or with my children. I work for the DETROIT PISTONS Youth League I’m a coach and I work for a moving company and I also do security part time so I deal with all walks of life and I know when I’m getting racially profiled… To the Owner of DC Sports who I know will respond to this, Please do not throw a cover over the situation and your rude staff that I guess are not use to being around black people besides the famous athletes that make appearances there. Again I’ve been a loyal customer for over a decade now and I’ve tried to ignore the treatment but I can’t anymore. Teach your young staff better people skills. God made us different for a reason. The fact my skin is brown does not mean I’m the same as some other people you’ve seen on the news or had bad experiences with in your past. I’m a husband, I’m a father, I’m the grandson of Harlem Globetrotters Legend Jumping Johnny Kline and most importantly I’m a man of God. This is 2025 STOP THE Stereo typing when someone that has brown skin comes in your store. It’s not a good look and I refuse to continue to spend more years of my hard earned money with a company and staff like yours if this doesn’t...
Read moreDo not purchase from Detroit City Sports. I ordered a pin from them on October 12 or 13 from their website, I also decided to check out the other items they were selling. I ended up purchasing $336 of stuff when I went to them for a $15 pin. I signed up for their emails and then found out they also had auctions and since spent another several 100s of dollars at multiple auction dates. I ordered a signed Kirk Gibson jersey for a private signing they were having December 5th in my initial October order, so I understood that they didn't ship items separately, but they waited until today December 21st to pull my order even though they charged me the full amount at time of order. I just received an email that the pin, the only reason I ever visited their website, that I spent my time searching for, is now out of stock. I checked the website on about December 15th, they still had the pin for sale on the website, today it is not for sale or on their website. When I called to complain, I immediately asked to to speak with a supervisor, the gentleman on the phone said. He could help me, I said "ok" and proceeded to site my complaint and asked why didn't they pull my order from the items available at the time of my order, he said "we don't do that because we're afraid of losing your order in their backroom". After that he proceeded to say "I knows for a fact that we haven't had that item for over two and a half months". So now I'm boiling because i was very sure from the facts at hand he just lied to me. I told him that I had checked their website a week ago to check my order status, and that I specifically checked to see if the pin was still available, I guess maybe I knew what was to come, it was still for sale on their website. So now he says the website is wrong. So its been wrong for 2 months I guess, but they will still take your money, very odd, look if they would have called or emailed me in the first week I would have been disappointed but nowhere near the anger I feel now. So I called him out on his saying they were afraid they would lose my order and he says he didn't say that, so he's now calling me a liar. Then he says "i'll have you talk to my supervisor", I said "Finally", he said "don't say that" with attitude, I said "what are you going to do about it, don't tell me what to say". The supervisor got on the phone and said "its a pin, what do you want to do cancel your order", I said yes, he said ok and he hung up on me. I DO NOT recommend. And I will never patron...
Read moreBought 3 mystery Tiger signed baseball boxes as Easter gifts for $75 a piece. All boxed differently and all three had different authentication which made it difficult to confirm who actually signed the baseballs. The sign in the store and on the website says includes certificate of authentication but doesn't explain some are stickers from beckett that you have to scan for the certificate and, others that have MLB holograms that you have to go to MLB website and search the number on sticker for a certificate. I called and spoke to Andrew who told me that they are going away from paper certificates and we just needed to scan the sticker on the ball. Well that worked for the beckett authentication but not the MLB. I explained all three were different and none of this was explained to me and Andrew's response was well they are mystery boxes. So, the mystery is not just who signed the ball but how you get the letter of authentication. Thanks for explaining that after the fact and in such a great way. I asked to speak to a manager and of course they weren't available the day before Easter. I went into the store and of course Andrew was there. I asked for the manager and of course Andrew denied making the comment and later said he made the comment but I didn't understand the context. The manager said there would be no way he said that the way I heard the comment. I just didn't understand Andrew who is one of their top employees. Also, I'm the only person who has ever questioned this. Well, it will be some time before I visit this establishment again if ever and I will definitely share my experience. I asked them to print the MLB certificate and they did but it wasn't as easy as they made it out to be since they struggled with printing it. Plus, they implied that I was lying about what Andrew said and that doesn't go over well with me. Nobody's perfect and Andrew made comments he shouldn't have. I guess you just have to be a good employee so that you're not held accountable for...
