I've been going here for games for almost ten years. Started when I was in college at UWSP and still get games from them even though I moved away. I can't say enough good things about this inclusive, welcoming, professional, fun and family-friendly store!
First, they treat customers with the utmost respect and care! They have really helped me out if I was unhappy with something, needed to ask questions etc. They make you feel valued and are truly helpful and friendly! This is a great place for parents to get info about "what their kids really want!" You ever try calling a big box store to ask about the newest games and they don't know what they're talking about or only confuse you? GG is the opposite! They have industry insider knowledge and will help you get the RIGHT gift for your kids, friends etc.
Second, their selection is amazing! They can get just about any new game you want, but also have incredible walls of pre-owned games, including stellar retro selections. Want to relive some nostalgic times and get Atari, NES, Super Nintendo, sega games, etc? Gaming Generations has been doing retro since "before it was cool." When Gamestop stopped selling retro games it broke my heart. When i walked into Gaming Generations for the first time and saw all the SNES carts to pick and choose from, at reasonable prices, my heart warmed.
Third, they host awesome events and truly make it feel like their customers are part of a community. I can't say enough good things about this amazing store. It is possibly my favorite retail store I've ever been to in my life and I will continue to buy from them over other big box stores and chain game...."stops." Gaming Generations beats them on selection, often times on price and treats you like a valued customer. What more could...
Read moreThere are numbers of things I love about gaming generations stevens point.
The staff is always nice, helpful, dressed well and not covered in tattoos and piercings like the other game store in town.
Not that it's a deal breaker, but given the choice, I prefer buying from someone that's well groomed and doesn't look like live in their mother's basement, or recently got out of Folsom prison.
The staff aren't robots, Jake and Spencer are flexible. There is some slight wiggle room when it comes to trade in value of products. If I bring in a barely used iPhone, or a nearly new 3DS, with the hopes of buying a particular game or product, the staff will work with you instead of looking at sheet handed by corporate and telling me "X" ammount is all I can get for said item. They will make a substancial profit either way (it's a business and their job to make a profit i understand that), but will do their best to help you get the item you want.
Prices are always better, and If I buy a brand new game, finish it within a week or two bring it back, I know I'll get the most value back for it.
There's nothing more disheartening than buying a brand new game, finding out it's not your thing and then bringing it to GameStop only having some mouthbreather tell you that the game you paid $70 is only worth $15. I mean, it's like an episode of pawnstars every time I walk in there!
I bought a used PS3 from gaming generations once, and it didn't read certain games. I called them up and bam! Got a new, used ps3. Easy, and not full red tape.
Lastely, a locally owned company in central wisconsin will always get my $$$$ over, a national...
Read moreIt's always a treat to visit a game store that reminds me of the one I have back home! I've followed the Sheboygan location on facebook for as long as I can remember; but this was my first time finally visiting one, and I'm thankful I did! Not only did my partner and I spot the cleanest copy of Secret of Mana CIB we've ever seen — but the cashier that helped us also offered a box/manual only for Final Fantasy II/IV (iykyk) since we were telling them about the super clean box we found of III/VI almost a year ago. Secret of Mana had the strategy guide as well — and while it had some slightly heavy corner wear, the price was already well accounted for in more ways than one! Our cashier was incredibly nice and knew what they were talking about, (I'm so sorry I never got your name, but you know who you are!) and it was super cool to walk into a place that reminded me of our store at home and give off the same vibes with the same laid back but knowledgeable atmosphere. Absolutely killer and I can't wait to visit again when I'm back in the area! Thank you so much for the goodies and the...
