This place was shut down cause of covid for a while and during this time the annual membership expired but they weren't open to come in and cancel or send a letter in wouldn't do any good either. (The only ways you are allowed to cancel a membership for some reason). So because it's on the gym and not on the customer in that situation it would cancel out at the end of the 12 month term. But shady businesses don't take responsibility and so as soon as the restrictions get eased up this place opens up it starts billing again with no notice of any kind. Fast forward a couple months and the first letter sent in some how doesn't make it the couple miles to their location so the next month following another is mailed before the next withdrawal is scheduled to take place. To no surprise they bill again even tho when going into the location on the same date that it is withdrawn from the bank account this time, reveals that the account has been canceled (meaning the gym got the second letter with the date of termination authorization). So when asked why after receiving a cancelation is it still billed for the month to come the counter employee says that it is set up in their system that a week prior to the withdrawal it is set to take it out and that they can't cancel the COMING BILL even if your cancelation is already in effect and the membership is now invalid. It doesn't fall on the customer if planet fitness billing system isn't effectively taking into account the date of cancelation and adjusting accordingly. Taking funds from someone that has closed their account before the next billing period is theft. And it is no excuse that the automated billing doesn't take all parameters into it accurately. If the new billing period isn't in effect for another 1-7 days people should be able to not get billed cause the date has not come yet and the cancelation date has. They can cancel the membership at that date but can't cancel the withdrawal of funds at the same date? This is also after not using any services for over ten months - but that's on the customer; if they sign into an agreement and don't partake in the options available to them. And also past the 12 month term that has additional cancelation fees associated with it. This is the second time I've witnessed this company do this to people (in two different locations). The bank is opening an investigation into this but it won't change the shady practices in place at this location and others. This didn't even happen to me but to someone close to me that has fallen on hard times because of the shut downs and doesn't have money for these crooks to steal. Even if they did - this shouldn't happen to anyone. Consider...
Read moreI joined this gym march 25th. They advertise a trainer but have not had one on staff for months. I've been asking. There are also a lot of broken machines. There are only two of a certain kind of leg machine and one has been out of order since I joined. People have a bad habit of sitting on machines while scrolling on the phone. Between that and the broken machines it's nearly impossible sometimes to get a turn. I mentioned this to an employee yesterday and asked if they could remind people not to sit on their phones while on the machine and his response was, na, its not my business. Wtf. He works there! During the same visit I witnessed a man sticking his fingers in his mouth and licking them while watching a young lady workout. He was making faces and clearly being inappropriate. I would have reported him, but, after the employee had told me it wasn't his business the tell members not to sit on their phones while on the machines, I decided the sexual harassment of a member wouldn't matter either. Most of the staff is very young and very apathetic. There are constant excuses, such as today, they couldn't get a hydro massage bed for me because only one was working. One young lady told another employee they didnt have the codes. Huh? They said they didn't have the remote to change the time on the clock, its an hour off. A couple of weeks ago they didn't have paper towels for a couple days! I blame management. Workers are only as good as their leaders. These employees are super young and need leadership. I don't think they know what to do because they arent getting the support they need from corporate, so they just stopped caring. Sad. For them and planet fitness customers. I will be looking for another gym or some at home equipment and canceling my membership. One employee, Ariana, is very very sweet and helpful. She seems to be busy all the time so I think she puts in more effort than the rest that I've noticed. The second star was for her, otherwise I would have only...
Read moreAn Unpleasant Experience Due to Employee Behavior
I had a bad experience with a worker named Gio at Planet Fitness. I went there to relieve stress through a workout, but Gio was rude and unfriendly. This has happened more than once, making the whole experience at Planet Fitness not so great. On the day it happened, I wasn't feeling good emotionally, and I thought working out would help. But Gio's attitude not only ruined my workout but also made my whole day worse. It's disappointing that a staff member could be so unfriendly in a place that should care about customers.I had an overdue balance, and I was aware of it. I planned to go in and pay it, but when I walked up, the guy was already in a bad mood. I tried to be friendly, but right after he saw me scan, he said, "You can't work out today. You have an overdue balance. If you don't pay it, you gotta go." This caught me off guard, and I even thought about canceling right there and then. However, I didn't want to waste my time or give him the satisfaction. I want to mention that there was one positive experience with another staff member, a girl with dye hair. She treated me well, which stood out compared to the negative experiences with Gio. Because of these ongoing issues, I'm thinking about switching to another gym where I can feel valued and respected. I hope this review makes Planet Fitness pay attention and improve how their staff is trained, creating a friendlier environment...
