Besides a great theater company to see professional productions, GBSC is an amazing place for kids age 8-18 to get experience with acting. There are summer camps and productions during the school year. The summer camps are open to all kids while the other productions require auditions and in scoring a role. The teaching staff are professionals and the philosophy is clearly about growing both the actor and the child. Some camps are just about putting on a great show - but GBSC emphasizes techniques, improv, dance, singing and just being supportive of each other. My son loves the community of kids and his teachers/ directors. The plays are all supported by professional technical crews so the productions always run perfectly and well organized. I love greater Boston stage company and will definitely come back for more. All the shows here are always great and there are shows ranging for Young kids to Adults. Read moreWe have been loyal Season ticket holders since the 'Stoneham Theatre's' inception over 20 years ago. Sad to give it all up, but I cannot keep losing my hard earned money to their masking mania. Sitting in a theatre while wearing a face diaper is not my idea of entertainment. I ate several hundred dollars worth of tickets skipping plays these past two years, and I cannot do it anymore. Makes me sad.
Now for the good stuff. Plays are great. Musicians are first class. Dedicated 'Guild' volunteers make for a great experience. The 'Young Company' is a great program for kids. But my family is now enjoying the other fine nearby theaters that have consumer friendly...
