This was our first visit and given the reviews, I had higher expectations. Unfortunately because I am accustomed to eating Indian food in Cambridge, Somerville, and Boston, I expected appropriate complex spicing in the entrees. I can tell the kitchen is using abbreviated recipes as each of the 4 dishes we ordered tasted flat, bland, under seasoned and not authentic. Everything was ordered medium hot level and all were less than mild. All the dishes tasted of a similar profile which made us wonder if they only had 3-4 spices in the kitchen - garlic, cumin, chili, a generic blended curry powder. We had baigan bharta (advertised as eggplant roasted over charcoal but tasted boiled), shrimp do piazza (ok but bland and unseasoned with hardly any spice), chicken jalfrezi (was strangely made with precooked chicken breast so the pieces were super dry, overcooked and unpleasant to eat. Also bland with none of the advertised ‘fresh herbs’), vegetable mixed appetizer had 4 very small pieces and the samosa filling and aloo tikki tasted of very bitter potato. Unpleasant and would not recommend. Saag paneer (was ok but also bland and under seasoned), and a large bread basket with 4 different naan which all tasted similar with no real distinguishing flavor profiles. Ordering 4 entrees came with only one dish of rice which was fine since we ordered so much bread. The service is nice and an extra star for the service. I am glad they are popular with their community. It was fairly busy in...
Read moreI didn't want to write this, but our dining experience was so awful. My husband and I came here for dinner and our server made numerous inappropriate comments and "jokes" until we left.
Here's the worst: He asked me "what's on your face" and after I told him it's a small birthmark, he said "Oh too bad, I wanted to make a joke about how he beats you." We were completely shocked that he said this and sat in silence for a while. Later, the server came back and said this AGAIN, and how we wanted to make jokes about my face, and said AGAIN that he wanted to make jokes about my husband "hitting" me. I told him that what he was saying is actually really rude and he continued to say "it's just a joke!" My husband also said it was very rude and that he made us want to leave.
Ironically, the food was pretty decent but the server made us lose our appetite completely.
We paid and left, but this totally ruined our night. I honestly don't know why in 2022 this needs to be said, but "joking" about someone's physical appearance and saying it's domestic violence is NOT funny- and NOT worth the...
Read moreRather 1-note food. I can see why this place would he popular with most Americans, even when I ordered the butter chicken with medium spice (similar to Tikka masala, but usually a different spice for added heat), it was rather bland. The Vegi buriani which is my go-to test for an Indian restaurant was also very flat, no hints of Star anis, coumon, or Cinnamon.. Just he.. . I find that Indian restaurant's fall into one of two camps: cater to American's palate and use the top 5-not spicy seasonings. Or Authentic Indian that utilizes the full variety of spices available that they cook for themselves at home.. Unfortunately this falls into the first... Great for people who don't appreciate the variety and nuances a well spiced Indian dish can have... Perfect for beginners to Indian cuisine.. But eventually you realize it's only basic Indian and go for the full flavor and essence that is True dynamic Indian.. Which to...
