UPDATE: Within days of me writing this Robert the General Manager over Houston reached out to me. He listened to me, let me know that they would be doing more training at the store and apologized again and again for my experience. He made me feel heard. I really appreciated that and because of him, I will shop there again. I know everyone makes mistakes and I am very appreciative that the management of Cornelius thought this was important enough to take action immediately. My original review was a one star but I changed it because of how proactive they were to help me.
I went to the store 2 weeks ago to get ideas about replacing everything that died in the freeze. A guy named John walked me through the store an gave me so many ideas that I went back today to buy and schedule their Pick and Plant service. The whole way there I was hoping to see John and sure enough he was working. When I saw him he was pulling a cart with plants so I waved him down to see when he would be free to help me. His attitude was a complete 180 from the first time. He snapped at me as I was trying to say hello you helped me last time. Then he started telling me he was too busy to help me but what did I want. I told him I wanted to plant the butterfly garden he suggested last time and he angrily said "lots of plants attract butterflies, just pick what you want" . The store had done a floor reset so nothing was where it was 2 weeks ago so I asked if he could point me in the right direction. He started waving his arms around and kept pointing "there", or "there, just look at the tags". I told him I didn't need his help and went to find a manager. I told her what happened and get this, her reaction was to tell me THEY KNOWN HE'S LIKE THIS AND THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME HE'S BEEN THIS WAY WITH A CUSTOMER. So I said, I'm deciding right now between you and Enchanted Garden. To her credit she tried to help me but then the kicker was her telling me that the Pick and Plant service meant that I pick and PAY for plants, they keep them in a holding area until they are delivered. Her comment? " MOST OF THEM MAKE IT". When I said what does that mean, if they die I'm out of luck? She just shrugged and gave me a half smile. So here's my experience of Cornelius Sugar Land. If you get John he may or may not be nice to you depending on his mood. His managers know he's this way and obviously don't correct him because he did it to me. And if you go with Pick and Plant and they hold your plants that you pay for until they can be delivered and planted they may or may not die and they have no assurance they will replace what you bought and didn't kill. Carol is truly a wonderful, creative and exceptionally talented person and designer who makes every visit to the store a great customer experience for me. I always look forward to seeing how Carol helps to transform the store into the incredibly beautiful and magical themes and settings each holiday season. Her Easter setting is one of my favorites but Christmas is unparalleled!
I could rave about Carol’s exceptional creativity, style and flair for designing some extremely gorgeous wreaths, swags and floral arrangements over the years for me; including to help pair or select the ideal accessories, just to name a few. Her style is never boring and she has the freshest take on choosing the best colors, patterns, textures from ribbons to florals and so much more, to fashion the most exquisite bows, unique arrangements and awesome gifts. There has not been one time I have been disappointed with Carol’s results!
However, what sets Carol apart is her genuine quality to make each customer feel special, like I am the only Cornelius customer. This is a rare quality in today’s time but this has been her standard from the first time I walked into the gift shop five years ago. Everything considered, she truly cares about her customers, going over and beyond as I have personally experienced. Each one of them made me feel welcomed,kind, and very polite. Each one in some way, gave their all to make my shopping experience was a great one. They are very attentive to your needs. I came to this location on September 30, 2025, and just like I stated in my previous review, the words and my expression of my appreciation for Ms.Nancy and Ms.Alexis have been an experience that I can't speak enough on. Every time I come, I'm greeted as I come, and always asked how can you be assist me. I come in with many questions pertaining to gardening and the best products that will suit my needs.
