Whatever you do, DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Zero stars should be an available rating! The bad reviews don’t even do justice to how absolutely disgusting this establishment is. I waited 5 plus minutes for the front desk clerk to present (had put a sign out that service was being provided to other guests= 100% LIE) only to find out he was sitting out in his car and watched me walk in before he decided to come back to his responsibilities. He (Jose) was pleasant enough, after of course he got his phone charger situated, plugged in, and his cell phone charging. My husband was busy unpacking the car, we got our room keys and walked down the hall to our first floor room. A smoke detector chirping in need of new batteries. The smell, foul. Something between marijuana, cigarettes, and mildew. Should have turned around then… The room was horrible. Dirty. Smelly. Dead bug bodies everywhere, I know a bedbug when I see it. The toilet had not been cleaned properly and urine noted to the seat that I can say with absolute certainty, was not from us. Stains on the carpet, unknown substance on the desk, curtains ripped and stained, bedding ripped and stained, walls dirty, bathroom door broken no lock or latch and it had to be propped with a roll of toilet paper in order to just keep it closed, carpeting dirty crumbs and debris everywhere looking like it had not been vacuumed or cleaned in who knows how long. I’m under describing the filth that is this hotel. I tried to talk myself out of how bad it was and just couldn’t. We ended up leaving right away and finding another place to stay. I’ve reviewed others comments and what’s crazy is the unfavorable ones have been noted and validated by the GM, Sandra Monterrosa, promising that all comments are taken seriously and will be addressed, but I can guarantee they have not been. Not even slightly. I was assured the manager would reach out to me the next morning, which still has not happened even a week later. Do better Sandra. I proceeded back to the front desk to see Jose, who, you guessed it, was nowhere to be found, the sign was out again that he was assisting other guests. I waited another 10 minutes. In that time another family was leaving, I heard them grumbling, and asked how their room and stay was, they highlighted exactly the things I have mentioned and had experienced in my short time in our room. So not even changing rooms would have made this situation right. They confirmed they’d never stayed in such a horrid establishment, and would never return. Not only because of the physical disgust witnessed, but the poor customer service and having to constantly wait for any assistance. This hotel advertises it is a part of Raddison (Choice Hotels) and I’m wondering what their corporate office would say to mine and others reviews about this place? After waiting, here comes Jose from outside from his car again (which btw, was parked in the “15 min” parking spot for guests checking in) not from helping other guests. When I asked for a reversal/refund on my credit card, and informed Jose we would not be staying, I was met with multiple reasons why he as the front desk manager was unable to grant my request, and advised me to call the manager. He then proceeded to give me a business card with the front desk number on it to reach said manager. How is that helpful? I asked Jose to call and get him/her on the line or for me to speak to, to which he stated he couldn’t contact them directly, but assured me he’d put it in some kind of report that he emails daily to the “manager” and I should expect to hear back from them. I booked this hotel prior to reading the reviews which will NEVER happen again. I booked based on price, parking availability, and breakfast. Based on just how vile the room and common areas were, I would NEVER eat food served in the same space. Just imagining the kitchen/prep area, turns my stomach. Do yourself a favor. Spend a little more money to stay anywhere else and read the reviews! I booked through Travelocity and the photos used for this hotel are falsely...

I stayed at the Country Inn and Suites in Capitol Heights for five days during a recent trip to Washington. The hotel served its purpose and was affordable, but it needed more cleanliness, upkeep, and policy enforcement. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a clean, contemporary lobby and a warm staff. However, the first room I was assigned reeked of marijuana. I returned to the entrance and was reassigned to a different room on the first floor. This room did not smell of smoke but had a musty, lingering odor. Most concerning and hazardous, the smoke detector was ripped off of the ceiling.

I suspect this odor was due to the carpet, which was appalling. Many other reviews complained of stained and dated carpeting, indicating this is a pervasive problem hotel-wide. The bathroom, bed sheets, and towels were clean. The beds were extremely comfortable. The mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker are convenient, especially for extended stays. The actual furniture and decor in the room were modern but damaged. Housekeeping did an adequate job servicing the rooms, but only upon request. Housekeeping should be better equipped with smoke-eliminating aerosols and carpet cleaners.

I mention policy enforcement earlier in my review because signage is present around the hotel banning the smoking of any kind. The hotel also takes a security deposit of one hundred dollars at check-in using a credit card and one hundred and fifty dollars if paying with cash. Unlike other properties of a similar caliber I have stayed at that merely authorize a credit card for incidentals, this hotel will charge you. Despite this steep charge, all the hallways smelled, and I would hear other guests spraying their rooms with an air freshener after smoking.

A security deposit effectively rectifies guest-induced damages, but I am unsure what its use is here if no defacements are being repaired and deep cleaning isn't occurring. The hotel boasts complimentary internet access, breakfast, and parking. The Wi-Fi was spotty and intermittent at best. Breakfast was adequate but needed more variety and quality. The parking lot was well-lit. Hot coffee and tea are available 24/7 in the lobby, which is a nice touch. The hotel is a very short distance from the Morgan Boulevard Metro Station. From here, it is a quick twenty-minute ride into central Washington. The hotel also boasts a fitness center, which is functional and surprisingly underused. There are also vending and ice machines just off the lobby and a meeting room.

If the hotel offered a shuttle service to the metro station, it would significantly enhance the guest experience and attract business travelers and tourists. This hotel can dramatically improve the guest experience and better compete by incorporating more stringent cleaning and maintenance protocols. Most of the staff I encountered were courteous and friendly, but there were exceptions. Also, all employees should wear uniforms and have name tags. This is Radisson's corporate protocol, and it would promote cohesion and professionalism. While the price I paid was fair, the rate advertised on the direct site and over the phone is ridiculous. Again, simple cosmetic fixes can make a big difference at this property. I encourage management to reassess and better tackle these reoccurring complaints.

In retrospect, I should have returned for a reassignment given the poor condition of the second room.

I would consider staying here again, but only if the price was ultra-competitive, now knowing the areas for improvement. I truly hope management will work to rectify these issues. This hotel has a lot...

Okay, I don’t know if maybe I’m just high maintenance or picky but this was horrible. Reading through the “good” reviews makes me giggle. If you didn’t know, they are either Fake accounts or Bought Google Reviews. NONE OF THE GOOD REVIEWS ARE REAL. It’s baffling me. I would’ve gave 2 stars but after seeing the owner buys reviews I had to lower it. I kinda want to report this hotel for how nasty it is. First to start off, this hotel is not in a great spot. You’ve got loiterers all on the side of the road as you pull in, kinda made me feel like my car was gonna get broken into. Also the fact they had signs about how they aren’t responsible for your car. Second the PRICE. Like we were staying here on a MONDAY night, and it was 180$?! Like for that piece of crap place it’s hilarious. A motel 6 would’ve been about the same quality. The floors are so disgusting and dirty. We had a double king room, when all I needed was one bed but I was told that it was more expensive to have 1 bed. So I kept it as is. I thought maybe it would be a nice hotel ish because of the reviews… yikes. The floor has holes in it, which I’m assuming they just covered with carpet. The entire place smelled like weed, incense, and cigarettes. I might as well have been in Vegas in a crappy strip hotel. Mmmm the smell of Lady Gaga and sex. Not what I paid for. The beds were half made in the room, super wrinkled and had crumbs in the blankets when I pulled up the covers. Makes me think they didn’t really get washed, just remade. There was mold in the sink and toilet. At least the water pressure was high in the shower. The coffee stuff was just kinda thrown on the table, fridge was missing shelves and looked so dirty. Just ew. I felt like I was in a disgusting hotel the whole time. For $180 plus a $100 deposit , I should’ve just trusted my gut and stayed at a Hilton. Like $100 deposit, was anything in the room even worth $100?? Lastly, the breakfast; I don’t know if I’d ever want to “break” a fast with this food. The eggs were alright, and the sausage…. Uhhh I mean…… mystery meat? I mean they did say they were pet friendly for service animals, it’s nice they put a little snack out in the morning for them. Cereal but no milk, maybe try yogurt? The juice was really good though, ngl, nice and cold. I hate that I didn’t enjoy the hotel, but yk somebody on here needs to be honest and stop settling for...

What the hell happened to this hotel! My work has booked us here for the past 3 years or so and it WAS great. This can’t be apart of the Radisson company hotels. Must be a franchise now. To start, the check in process took 45 minutes and we were the only guest in the lobby to do so. A nice elderly man behind the counter was beyond overwhelmed with the computer system while a younger gentleman, I’m guessing the manager (owner) was more concerned with getting his cold bottled water than he was in helping. We get our room cards and go to the elevator only to find that the floor is completely soaked in what smelled like Hawaiian Punch and sticky. Go up to the rooms to drop bags off and go out in hopes of getting dinner but stopped by the front desk about the elevator situation. Now there is a young lady behind the counter that says she was told about it and put a wet floor sign on the elevator to alert guests. I told her it would be better if she got a mop bucket with hot water and soap to clean it up because now it was being tracked throughout the hotel. Her response, with a serious face, was that it was not her job but the maintenance staff to handle it and that maintenance wouldn’t be back to work until the next morning. Riiiiight. So guests had to endure that lovely situation. Hotel is across from a Lowe’s and the parking lot is filled with people smoking and getting high. Hotel lot is also not lit very well if at all. One room had no shower curtain and the other had no shower curtain, towels and TV remote. The last straw was that after working the Army 10 Miler expo my coworkers room was cleared out. Their luggage and everything was behind the hotel counter because the room was given to another guest. Who the hell is running this carp box of a hotel now. This place shouldn’t have a license let alone the Country Inn & Suite by Radisson name. Our company will no longer be using this hotel the three times, three rooms per stay a year anymore. Beds were comfortable and that’s it.
