This was the WORST hotel experience of my life. I booked and paid for TWO rooms for a 3-day event well in advance. What followed was a cascade of negligence and disgusting conditions. I feel utterly misled and a victim of bait-and-switch. The chaos started pre-arrival when I received an email that ONE of my PAID rooms was CANCELED. Attempts to reach the hotel directly were futile; even the third-party booking company couldn't get through. This immediately caused distress. Upon arrival, the lobby was packed with angry guests complaining about overbooking. The single, overwhelmed employee confirmed one of our rooms was canceled due to overbooking, instructing us to seek a refund through the booking company. She then casually informed us our booked king room was replaced with a standard double, with no comparable alternative or full refund offered for the downgrade. It was a blatant disregard for our reservation. The situation worsened: the employee revealed the hotel had NO HOUSEKEEPING, NO MAINTENANCE, NO WIFI, and a broken elevator, delivered with shocking indifference. Left with limited options late at night, we reluctantly accepted a king handicap accessibility room as a "solution" for one person, told to pursue a refund for the canceled room and find alternative accommodation for that guest. The hotel's state was appalling. The lobby was FILTHY. The elevator was disgusting, reeking, and felt insecure. Our floor hallway had white paint splatters and reeked of CANNABIS with loud music blaring – more like a hostel than a Wyndham hotel. The first room was a health hazard: damp, musty, with visible water damage, bubbling paint, spiderwebs, and mold rampant in the bathroom. Critically, ROACHES scurried from under the sink and in the bathroom. I should have left then. Reporting these horrors to the front desk, the employee was indifferent, stating no housekeeping due to repairs, and simply offered a room change. No apology, no empathy. After 11 PM, we were offered another room due to a cancellation, but only for ONE NIGHT, and told to get our own towels as there was no housekeeping. The second room, while free of active leaks and immediate mold smells, was still subpar. Furniture was old and rotting. The mattress seemed new, but blankets were faded. The bathroom wasn't visibly moldy or infested, but clearly wasn't properly cleaned. Finally, we had two subpar rooms, but rest was elusive. After showering, I spent two hours on edge, then saw a LARGE COCKROACH crawl across the TV screen. A simple refund is insufficient for the trauma, anguish, and disrupted weekend. This wasn't just a bad stay; it was a betrayal of trust and disregard for basic hygiene and hospitality. I share this to warn others. Wyndham must hold this franchise accountable for damaging its brand and mistreating guests. Booking platforms also bear responsibility for listing such uninhabitable properties; their vetting is inadequate. I demand Wyndham investigate this property immediately. It should be fined, potentially shut down for renovations and health inspections. Wyndham should consider taking over or even demolishing it. The current operation is a disgrace. Read moreI recently had the opportunity to stay at LaQuinta Inn and Suites, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. From the moment I arrived, I encountered several inconveniences that significantly impacted my stay.
First and foremost, the hotel had two elevators, but only one was functioning properly. This resulted in a frustratingly slow elevator service, leading to excessive congestion in the lobby area. The lack of a fully operational second elevator made going upstairs an arduous task, as guests were left waiting for long periods. Expect to endure a 5-10 minute wait each time you wish to return to your room—a major inconvenience for any traveler.
To compound matters, the hotel inexplicably locked the stairwell unless you were descending. This meant that guests who wished to go upstairs were forced to rely solely on the slow and overcrowded elevator. The lack of access to a functional stairwell added unnecessary frustration to an already irritating situation.
Upon entering my room, I quickly noticed several disappointing aspects. The phone in the room was essentially useless, as it lacked a power cable to connect it. This oversight rendered any communication needs impossible to fulfill, undermining the convenience that a phone should provide.
Furthermore, the safe in the room was locked before my arrival, leaving me unable to access it. This lack of attention to detail and failure to ensure basic amenities were functional was both frustrating and concerning.
While the beds in the room were semi-comfortable, I can't say I was surprised. I didn't expect much from a hotel with a two-star rating, and unfortunately, my expectations were met. However, even at this level, I believe there is room for improvement. The sheets provided were sub-par and could definitely benefit from an upgrade to enhance guest comfort.
Lastly, I must mention the breakfast experience. It was lackluster, to say the least. The options were limited, and the quality of the food fell below expectations. A more varied and appetizing selection, along with better attention to freshness and taste, would have gone a long way in improving the overall experience.
In conclusion, my stay at LaQuinta Inn and Suites was marked by disappointments and inconveniences. The issues with the elevators, the lack of power for the room phone, the inaccessible safe, and the underwhelming breakfast experience all contributed to a less-than-pleasant stay. With attention to these details, along with a focus on guest comfort and convenience, LaQuinta Inn and Suites could greatly enhance the quality of...
Read moreAwesome hotel for the money! This is a very clean La Quinta. Very close proximity to DC, walking distance tbh.
The lobby was neat and the staff was very friendly. Service was amazing. There is a $50 incidental charge but it's refunded to you within 2 days of checkout. I received mine the next morning. Check-in was fast and thorough, lobby area is easy to navigate and we found everything quickly just by eyeing our surroundings from the desk.
Our room, a suite, was stocked with big, fluffy towels and washcloths (5 sets🤗), and it was lemony fresh the moment we walked in the room. The room was bright and cheery and the internet powered right up... it was lightning fast. The perfect start to my stay.
The bathrooms are ok, not the greatest situation since I love sitting on the side of a bathtub to soak my feet in my salts (part of my daily self-care routine) and this was a shower only. The bathroom is very small though so a tub wouldn't really be a good fit here.
The cable channels were decent. The first night, our little family enjoyed and fell asleep to a marathon of Disney movies on freeform in the soft, comfy bed. Note to self: gotta get one of these mattresses!!! I slept like a baby the entire stay.
Breakfast was good. The mini muffins are delicious and their cinnamon rolls are pretty yummy too. Meat, eggs, cereal, pastries, juice, fruit, milk and bread are all available in various forms. Grab it early (6am on weekdays, 7am weekends) to avoid eating picked-over food.
The workout area was small but nice. Machines were decent! Treadmill, bike, medicine balls, weights, and it seemed to be empty every time I went so I had full access to it all.
The pool looks beautiful but I didn't indulge. They clean it daily from what I saw.
The laundry areas are on the 3rd and 5th floors. Substantial machines, washer can take on pretty big loads and the dryer is high capacity as well. BYOTP (bring your own tide pods 😂)
There are tons of places to eat close by, many within walking distance. Doordash delivers here too, if you don't like any of the places nearby. Dollar General and 7-11 are close if you need a snack or small groceries.
Overall, I give this 4 stars instead of 5 because the paint is peeling in many places and the furniture is a bit worn but the hotel is still being renovated. So these things could...
