Hi, my name is Derek Edwards and I am sharing the story of how I got my two Wayne Gretzky rookie cards. when my brother and I were young around 10 years old we would play games with the cards by knocking against the wall until they fell down. We would also collect cards of various types. When I was 20 years old I was asked by a high school student if I wanted to sort the cards and put them in sleeves in a binder, I said yes, but first I looked through the cards to see what I had and that’s when I found out that I had two Wayne Gretzky cards in very good condition! so for the next 30 years, I kept them in a binder until about five years ago when I had them PSA rated, I was very glad that they were in mint condition and that had not been damaged. I have other cards that I will look into getting rated as well.

They were prompt in their responses and reassured me when FedEx took a while to ship the cards to them. Selling all or even a part of your prized collection is a difficult choice. I talked to several potential buyers before settling on John Palomares at Just Collect. I opted to sell only a small part of my collection simply because that’s what I’m comfortable doing at this time. Perhaps in the future I’ll sell more or even all of my collection. What appealed to me most about Just Collect was the fact I could send them cards I was interested in selling—at their expense (and insured), allowing them to offer a maximum price, i.e. they saw exactly what was for sale. Clearly this requires trust on my part but John stayed in close communication with me and I was very confident and trusted their process. Meanwhile I did some homework assessing what the cards I sent to them were bringing in current market venues, e.g. eBay, etc. I felt the initial offer from Just Collect was quite fair with the exception of a couple of sets. We had a couple of subsequent discussions regarding condition, etc. and came to an agreement on price that I was most satisfied with.
