I love Tallahassee Capoeira! I started taking classes at the academy when I first moved to Tallahassee, and it has been a truly wonderful community to join. Capoeira is a martial art that combines fighting, dance, acrobatics, and music, and it has been a great way for me to stay active and keep learning.
The classes (they currently offer 5 classes per week) are a good workout, super fun, and a great challenge for the brain, too. The monthly cost is a great value, too. If you'd like to try a unique martial art but aren't sure where to begin, look no further!! The intro classes are great for all body types, all ages (from 2 to 92), and all levels of prior experience. I had no experience with any martial arts, and this was a terrific way to get started.
They have also had a good response to the pandemic - classes have continued to take place, but outside with plenty of distance.
The instructors, "Taz" and "Texuga" create a positive, fun, challenging, and inclusive environment for both kids and adults....
Read moreMy daughter has been part of Tallahassee Capoeira for years (she started at 5 years old). The sport has given her a good deal of physical ability as well as confidence. She is able to pick up almost any other physical activity pretty easily - partly because capoeira has given her intuitive knowledge about how her body works. Because of that, she also has a confidence in trying new things that is good to see. I truly believe that much of this is due to taking capoeira from a young age. Also, it is a good workout and you will really use your body at Tallahassee Capoeira in a fun way. Another thing we love about Tallahassee capoeira is the community feel. The instructors are trustworthy, they truly care about their students and they are involved. Tallahassee Capoeira has a family atmosphere with great people that is very healthy and wonderful to be a part of....
Read moreThis is the best place to take your child after long days of being cooped up all day in a classroom! The activities and curriculum are fun, safe, and innovative, designed to teach kids to how to gain control over their bodies and their movements. In addition to learning super cool capoeira kicks and acrobatics, the kids get excited about playing crab soccer and capoeira jump rope. My nine year old son has been doing capoeira for a few years now and he loves every minute of it.
The community at Tallahassee Capoeira is warm, welcoming, and very family friendly. They offer a variety of classes throughout the week and a family class on Saturday that allows siblings and parents to try out capoeira at no extra charge! Definitely worth...
