My introduction to this little business was when I sent my husband to get some fertilizer for my new orchids. I had never grown them before and these people were supposed to know what they were doing. After using the fertilizer for a year, nothing much was happening with the plants. I did some research and found that they had sold him the wrong kind of fertilizer, the NPK levels were only for blooming plants and that left a big chunk of the year.
Next we went looking for fruit trees. They had a fairly good selection, but nothing special, prices were about average. They did have a few cute things in the building, but nothing really unique.
The last time I went, I needed some tomatoes. They said that they had a good selection. I first asked the employee about bush tomatoes as opposed to vine tomatoes. She informed me, in a fairly snooty manner, that all tomatoes grow on vines. I told her that yes, they do, but some are a bush type of plant that doesn't ramble all over and have to be trellised. She didn't get it. I thought maybe she was more used to horticultural terms, so I went with "determinate" plants as opposed to "indeterminate." That went completely over her head. They also didn't have any that were disease resistant, so I just went elsewhere.
While this isn't the worst nursery I've ever been too, two stars...
Read moreThis place is absolutely amazing!! This is so much more than a nursery! In the front they have a nursery with a huge assortment of plants including hard to find plants. In the back, for a fee of $3 (which is a steal in my opinion) they have a large garden that is absolutely amazing! It is scattered with beautiful plants, fountains, and decorations. They also have an assortment of tortoises, turtles, and a large variety of birds and parrots that they have rescued that are an absolute joy. It is amazing that this place is in the middle of Tamarac, yet can be so beautiful, awe inspiring, and peaceful! The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and can give you in depth info on any of their plants. They also gladly offer help with any of your planting needs including sick plants. This is an amazing mom and pop small business that everyone should visit and support! So happy we found this place, and will be going back not only to purchase more plants, but to go see the...
Read moreI just left there less about 20 mins ago. Extremely helpful & you can tell they're passionate about plants. The guy that assisted me with getting a bonsai plant answered EVERY question & concern I had. He never rushed me nor made me feel like I was bothering him or causing him an inconvenience with my 101 questions :). They repotted the plant I wanted and made it look like a million bucks!! They even made my 2yr old toddler & I view the animals in the back to occupy her time while waiting on the plant to be repotted... $3 but as a parent with a 2yrs old- it sure was worth it!!! Excellent place with very great prices. Superb service and I will definitely be back there for all my...
