We recently became acquainted with the Tamarac Rec Center when my adult daughter signed up for one of their sports programs. This facility is well designed and is home to a wide variety of sports for both kids and adults. The gym has recently been renovated to make it even more user friendly for the participants and new programs have been started. The facility provides plenty of room for both indoor and outdoor activities. It is open to residents of Tamarac, but also to enthusiasts from other communities. The fees for both are a great value.
There were a couple of issues. One was with adult bullies wreaking havoc during adult sports. I've seen many players leave never to return. While some members of the rec center did their best to stop what was going on, those higher up were willing to let it go. Read moreThe soccer program used to be amazing a few years ago when Mike Rennes was in charge. Unfortunately, it has gone from bad to worse. One major issue is that they continue to hire a referee who was openly disrespectful to the kids, calling them “Mexican” as if that were something negative. Several parents, including myself, complained about this unacceptable behavior, but nothing was done. Our concerns were completely ignored.
It’s very disappointing to see a program that once thrived now showing such disregard for both the players and the parents’ voices. Families deserve better, and the kids deserve to feel respected...
