You're correct - I didn't leave a review. I didn't want to be unfairly negative. The 3 star rating might very well be a case that our expectations were different than the actual visit. We are in the process of setting up a new 55 gallon tank. We had a few smaller (29 gallon) tanks over the years, but we got rid of the last one probably 8 years ago. So setting up this tank is like going back to square one. One of our favorite resources back in the day was Drs. Foster & Smith online. It was a little disheartening to learn they are no longer. So we spent the day driving around the valley looking at different stores just to acquaint ourselves with what's available. We just filled the tank up 2 days ago so we're not ready to add fish yet. We were looking for ideas on how to set it up so it looks good, but unique. We didn't want it to look like every other fish tank.

So THAT is what brought us to your store. We weren't looking for fish or live plants - more for aquarium accessories. You seemed to have a lot more used stuff than new, and some of the used stuff looked VERY used. The overall vibe of the store seemed small, cluttered, and dimly lit. I used to shop here for used equipment & it was ok, but hadn't been there in a few years. I was looking for a professional to sand & buff my acrylic tank. I was thrilled to see that they offered it,so I drove 45min ea way to drop off the tank. Weeks went by and they didn't return my calls nor did they respond to my messages. After 3 weeks he finally called and said the tank was ready. I went to pick it up & I had to pay for the service before I saw it. When we were loading it the tank was upside down and had leaf debris, so I couldn't even tell what had been done. When I got home & got it unloaded we saw. Not only are ALL the original scratches still on the tank, but now the front is hazy which it wasn't before. I contacted Chris who stood by his work and refused to refund any of my money. He claimed my tank was badly scratched and this was basically as good as it gets. However, I took the tank to a local acrylic shop (they know Chris) & the guy actually laughed out loud and said Discount Aquarium should be embarrassed to charge money for what they did because it's an easy buff job and they did a half A** job. Reefers connect all through the valley & bad news travels fast. He bashes other businesses on facebook, but he needs to clean out his own tanks! I had bad luck looking for a fish store that doesn't sell sick fish! I had two guppies that had ich and my male guppy sadly passed away, my heart was shattered and I was ready to throw in the towel. I did EVERYTHING to save my female guppy and I successfully did. As time went by I was ready to start looking for a fish store. My husband one day looked up fish stores and came home with a male guppy. I was happy and excited! he started describing the store to me and I knew I had to go in for my self to see. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! I got greeted as I walked in and then my excitement began....I was all over the place looking at ALL their fishes and corals! and was so impressed by how healthy all theses babies look here! The guy who was working there is so nice and helpful and asked me if I needed help with anything. OF course I said I want guppies! He was patient with me while I wanted certain colored guppies from the tank. As I picked my four new babies and purchased them, I saw the tanks at VERY reasonable prices!
