Duplex (Boba) Tea Station — Restaurant in Tempe

What happened to this place? It was among my favorite boba shops but the customer service at my recent visit was atrocious, and if you read other Google or Yelp reviews, it's fair to say it's a trend. No greeting or acknowledgement from the girl working there as I walked in; she just kept doing what she was doing and let me wait a few minutes before a guy with glasses walked from the back to take the order. This guy was emotionless and unresponsive. No greeting, no "thank you" after giving the order, just a blank stare and no basic customer service skills. A guy who was older than the others (maybe a manager?) walked out from the back while I waited for my order and also seemed pretty rude. The drink was made well, but that's a base requirement for a boba shop. I won't be recommending this place to any more people and won't be returning. Hands down the best boba in town. We’ve toured the valley trying all the boba shops (we probably drink too much boba). Not that other shops aren’t good - there are some other great ones. But duplex takes boba seriously. Because they take it seriously, the drinks take longer to make. They look like they’re making cocktails as they prepare the drinks. The taro is amazing, HK milk tea is my wife’s fav. And the Oreo boba milkshake is insane - I normally wouldn’t order something like that at a boba place but it’s crazy. There’s a thick, salty cream at the top of the shake that is what takes it to the next level. me and some friends came to get boba after dinner so it was about an hour before they closed and we were the only ones there when we arrived. there was only one girl working but she was really nice and gave us recommendations. we looked around at the little trinkets they sell while we waited for our drinks and they were cute. the whole store is really cutely decorated. after we came in more people came in after us and we felt bad that the girl was all by herself especially since it was nighttime and she presumably closed the shop by herself i hope there's a lot of security features within the shop. i recommend maybe hiring another person for the night shift for safety reasons. other than that it was a really nice experience and our drinks...
