This is the worst place I’ve ever lived! Fire alarm test that last for 4 days straight! Who’s ever heard of such a thing? The fire alarm goes off 6-7 hours a day for 4 days straight, (And Counting) And they tell you this is normal. Last year they justified it by saying it was because it was the buildings first full year inspection and insured us that it wouldn’t be like that again next year, but next year is here, and it’s even worse! So your basically told “Oh well, it’s code” and expected to just set outside in the cold for 4 days with your pets, because the fire alarm drives them insane! If this wasn’t bad enough, the fire alarm goes off randomly (false alarms) throughout the year on top of their horrible testing! On top of the fire alarm issue, on average once a month, they “forget” to pay the trash bill, and it piles up 8 stories of trash shoot stinking up the building and forcing you to just leave your trash piling up in the trash room! There’s also the issue of communication with the residents. They have an email system setup to provide information to the residents, but they rarely use it. The elevator broke down and was not working for over a week, and there was not one word about it from management. Nothing to let the residents know what had happened and when it might be fixed. Just a piece of paper taped on the wall next to it saying “Out of order”. No communications or information about the trash piling up either! It seems they just hope you won’t notice! How absurd! There’s much more to managing a building, especially one that advertises itself as a “Luxury Apartment Building” than just paying the bills, (Although, given the garbage situation, it seems they can’t even get that right), there’s communicating with the residents. Another frustrating issue is that they don’t maintain the exercise equipment. I reported that one of the treadmills incline stopped working months ago and they have done nothing about it. Several others are so loud now do to lack of maintenance that you can’t stand to use them! They love to show off their Gym to new potential residents, but they won’t maintain it for actual tenants to use. Then there’s the cheap build quality, fake wood floors that move and squeak under your feet. The carpet that’s loose and created a big hump in the bedroom, the blotchy paint through out, (and I am the first tenet to live in this apartment). There so much more, but it’s just not worth my time to continue this review. Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere!
Update: 01/25/18
Fire Alarm still going off intermittently! Also, Homeless people sleeping in the building and still no message from management! This is a serious security issue and not one word has been sent out to advise the residents! My wife was going down to exercise at 4:30 AM in the morning, and had to walk by a homeless person sleeping in the hallway of the 5th floor. No one was up that early and she was afraid of what might happen with this unauthorized man in the building. She could have been attacked or worse. She reported it later that evening to management and all that was said was, “Yea we know”. Then something about a security guard. We’ve lived in this building over a year and a half and have never seen a security guard, but most importantly, not one word or email to warn or advise the other residents of this potentially dangerous situation! I now write reviews, as complaining to management does no good. They simply try to placate you. Example, there has been a large dog barking on the 6th floor that you can clearly hear over the TV in my apartment on the 5th floor, off & on all day & all night. We, as well as others have complained about it over & over for more than 3 months, but nothing has been done! We’ve complained about the trash, it still happens, no word from management, we’ve complained about the lack of maintenance on the exercise equipment, nothing from management. Positives reviews of this apartment seem to be from people who have only visited, or short term corporate residents, not real, long...
Read moreWhere do I begin? I’ve lived here for 3 years & not by choice. I work A LOT and I am often not at my apartment due to travel. My first issue with this place? A few years ago, I was bitten by someone’s German Shepherd while walking in the hallway to the freight elevator. The complex chose the solution of removing the dog and the tenant, which was great, but they also chose not to assist with my medical bill or provide any type of discount to my rent which was $300. This is exactly when I should have left, but I said to myself..I’m barely here to begin with and I didn’t have the time to move, so I stayed. The second and biggest issue happened today, my water and sewer bill was $300 a piece so in total, about $600. I have cameras throughout my apartment since I am not there often and I noticed a continuous sound coming from the bathroom through my camera. I was at first told I would receive a credit, but since I told them I noticed the continuous water sound, they took that as me already having knowledge of the issue and then placed the burden of blame on me. They also told me that I had a leak under my sink that I should have reported. How can I report or know definitively what is going on if I have not been there in a month?? I spoke with someone named Roxanne Canales, she didn’t bother to hear any explanation. Simply told me what it was and “thanked me for my understanding”. It came off as extremely rude and disrespectful. I could care less about the money, but treat people with respect and talk to them politely. I have an animal that is not currently at the apartment and will not return, I was told IF the pet rent could be removed, then I would be told. Yep, I didn’t receive any confirmation and I have a hard time understanding why I would continue to be charged if the animal isn’t there. If I was not out of town for work right now, I would pack everything in that apartment and leave instantly. The complex itself isn’t the issue, it’s only select people in the leasing office who don’t know how to properly communicate with others. This review has been a long time coming, but at this point, the issues need to be pointed out. I don’t expect to receive a dime of my money back from these people after I leave, but I am about 99% sure they will pull something out of thin air to justify keeping the money and/or charging me extra. Again, I am barely even in this apartment so I have already filled my attorney in for the inevitable “fight” that I assume will happen once I vacate. These people do...
Read moreThe good news and the bad… THE GOOD: There’s no argument here that the walk-ability factor to just about everything imaginable is almost unparalleled from any other place in the USA practically. Starbucks on the ground floor and 8 restaurants 30 feet across the street as well as Whole Foods and 10 minutes walk to cinemas – or take the trolley that stops right on the corner.
The pool area and BBQ’s create a great sense of community. You will make friends with people of all age groups quickly. Lots of dog owners in the building and endless paths to walk them in nature.
Security is excellent. Keyed entry to elevators and entrance points. Mounted security force on Restaurant Row morning till when the businesses close. A policemen lives within the building clearing out the pool area at night and does a lock check.
Solid cement constructed building and solid-core doors means you are not hearing everything through the walls like wood constructed building. You never hear footsteps overhead nor TV’s through the wall, albeit I can just barely hear my upstairs neighbor techno beat in the morning.
THE BAD:
On the Whole Foods side of the building, I hear that from 10:30 to about midnight it’s noisy as employees for the restaurants linger, or race out. Semi trucks roll past as they arrive to restock Whole Foods.
Construction on SW side just started in August 2018 to construct a counterpart apartment building. Noise and dust will continue for over a year.
BEWARE of the lease regarding activities within the walls of the building which states: “Mixed-Use Apartment Community. The Landlord’s apartment community is composed of both residential and commercial tenants. With the many advantages and conveniences that may be offered by commercial tenants, commercial neighboring tenants potentially may also produce increased noise and sounds, produce vibrations, display bright and distracting lights, produce odors and fumes, attract increased foot and/or vehicular traffic potentially resulting in parking issues, attract criminal activity and/or other potential effects to residents at the Landlord’s apartment community. The foregoing potential effects of commercial tenants to residents at the Landlord’s apartment community may occur twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week.”
Minor: You can’t really cook without setting off the smoke alarm much of the time and funny thing, the stove ventilation fans don’t exhaust to the outside. They just blow the smoke to...
