South Holland Community Center — Attraction in Thornton Township

My recent experience with this facility has TRULY been tarnished. I've experienced every emotion you could think of; from happiness to disappointment! Specifically, due to my interactions with the staff members from the facility rental department, and the receptionist at the front desk (during the day of my event). During a time when I was looking forward to finally being able to celebrate the coming of my baby (original baby shower date was cancelled due to an emergency delivery), everything was ruined. From the time of securing the rental room (1st inquiring by phone) to the day of the celebration, my long awaited memories of excitement was ruined by the inconsistency of how the staff handled things, as well as the way they spoke to us. Even though there are rules and guidelines that must be followed and enforced, the manner in which they were executed does not have to come across sarcastic, rude, and unsympathetic. When working with the public, you should be much more pleasant with people. This experience has indeed left me viewing this facility in such a negative way. And as I read the reviews of others, I see that I am not the only one that felt this way. This is something I strongly consider the Director to review and see how things can be improved. I don't remember things being this way 6 years ago. I NEVER imaged that I would experience one of the most EXCITING times of my life to turn out to be one of the most DISAPPOINTING times of my life. I am truly sadden by the outcome, and just hope that no one ever has to experience what I experienced during what was suppose to be the most exciting...

The first comment on here is about someone finishing their event early and expecting to get money in return. I don’t know where they do that. It was your choice to help out cleaning. Good job, but I’ll say this there’s not too many bad things that could be said about self Holland recreation center not at all. I’ve been going there for years. My kids go there never had one single incident there Even on the nights that it’s open Court basketball. They’re all always mature men there that basically make sure that nothing out of the line happens to anybody a lot of the guys there are faith driven pastors, not saying that pastors are God sent all of them, not saying that but the ones that I’ve met there are respectful, upstanding men I mean what they offer as a community center is is impeccable the average community center you go to now is being rented out and not an actual community center. It’s all for money. Sure, they have a membership fee, but...

I love this place but I wish they would keep it cleaner. I'm there in the mornings during and after the period that is supposed to be the locker room cleaning time. I've gone in after the locker has just been cleaned and, let me tell you, they leave a lot to be desired. People are just so nasty and inconsiderate. The female member's sauna has used band-aids on the floor, people leave their bottles and bottlecaps on the benches, I've seen garbage placed in the cracks between the benches, women leave clumps of hair in the showers. I'm a member but I've started using the guest locker room because there are fewer guests and less nastiness. It's really sad that people are so disrespectful and uncouth. This is such a wonderful and affordable resource for our community, but people...
