I highly recommend shopping around before deciding on what company to use.
Our experience was not great. The salesperson was fine. We knew we were being charged a ridiculous amount, but we made that choice because we just didn't have the time and energy to look around etc. My husband and I assumed that “you get what you pay for” would apply here. It’s somewhat accurate. The windows and sliding doors are good quality. Is it worth the price they charge? Hell no. But again, we expected a smooth process with minimal issues by paying a lot more.
As stated by several others, the wait time to even receive an installment date is extremely long for anything custom sized. And as others also mentioned, the buyer will have to be diligent about following up and asking constantly about the final installment date. We found out that oftentimes, they had the windows but not enough teams to install. The windows were just hanging out at wherever it was they keep them. We had one window where the glass was cracked. They had to install that one much later. Not fun having multiple unexpected installation dates.
The crews are nice and do a good job. They’re obviously overworked/poorly scheduled. Lot of complaints (never a good sign if the employees are unhappy). Maybe it’s due to that fact… the crews left behind quite a lot of glass pieces on our property both inside and outside. We had steel frames, so they had to break the glass on site. I spent a good hour picking up all the sharp nails and glass after I stepped on the glass. Not fun. We have three kids and a dog, so I was very upset.
The other point that is important to consider is how THICK their frames end up being when looking at it from inside the house. Window shoppers need to be sure to understand retrofit. Our salesperson made the mistake of telling us we wouldn’t lose any of the window pane size. Two of our friends had consultants misinform them as well at their consult. This makes me think they mislead the buyer on purpose and just argue at a later time that they did in fact tell us how much of the window we would actually lose.
We have several beautiful picture windows in our home. They shrank so much. It’s terrible. Imagine if you were to put a thick matte border on a picture and then add thick frame with layered edges. That’s what you’re going to get. It’s so so bad. We ended up doing drapes for windows we originally wanted to leave open. We had to hide the monstrous moulding somehow.
We realized how poorly this company is run and handled after comparing with our landscaping that we did around the same time. We had a large landscaping job for 20,000 sq ft property with both hardscaping and softscaping. The company was phenomenal in communication and being timely. They gave us a short estimate for the total duration of the job and I was skeptical. All our neighbors were skeptical as well. They finished on time. Save for minor details, they actually finished early. Everyone at that company is happy to be working there. You know what, if you are looking for a good landscaping company, check out Droughtscape. Imagine having such a great experience that I am advertising them on a negative review for another...
Read moreThis is my first Google review and I’m embarrassed to admit that I was scammed by Renewal by Andersen. Concerns arose with my new windows immediately during the installation and I spoke directly with the crew onsite and alerted my sales rep, James Cook. There is an issue with nearly every single window ordered and installed. Poorly manufactured product upon arrival, windows damaged during installation, windows installed missing parts from the factory, and damage to our house by the installation crew are the biggest concerns. Add to that, we started to have problems with the installed windows after just one week of minimal use (due to the rain, we didn’t open the casement windows).
I cannot express fully the disappointment and regret we feel in the windows. It is unconscionable to me that Andersen is so unreliable and unprofessional in resolving the issues from the very first day. These windows are extremely expensive and not worth it. Can you imagine being charged $6000 for a window only to have it damaged upon installation? Or another window that’s $4500 with a malfunctioning casement crank after one week? Can you imagine a professional installation crew damaging the stucco on your historic home?
My frustration with the poor-quality product and the damage to my house has only grown as a failure from RBA to address these issues and concerns. The company does not stand behind their product or take responsibility for their negligence. Since March 10, I have emailed, called, left voicemails, texted, engaged in phone conversations and in-person meetings hoping to resolve the many issues and concerns as well as damage to the Andersen windows and to our home. I’ve attempted on numerous occasions to get an answer of any kind as to when I can expect Andersen to replace, fix, and repair the damage they caused. Sales rep James Cook, Sales manager Sidney Reese, Concierge rep Burtiny Carter and the installation supervisor Raoul fail to respond. Why does it take 37 days to follow-up with “management”?
I went with this company because of the Andersen name and reputation. I thought Andersen was a quality product –...
Read moreThis has been an ongoing nightmare. Do not use this company, specifically the one in Torrance California. They charge my 94-year-old mother $22,000 to install a picture window.
They installed the window on a baseboard that was dry rotted. They framed the window with scraps of wood and press board. They did not pass the city inspection. They were required to remove the window and reframe.
The second installation has been in process for the last 3 weeks. When they came back the 2nd time they told me that the framing that was necessary for the window was beyond their scope and they tried to get me to redesign the window When I refuse they told me it was going to be an additional cost for their labor. I refused again. Then they got approval to frame the area with no additional cost.
However, once they started tearing up the walls near the window they determined that it was beyond the scope of what they do. I was told that I needed to get a carpenter to come in and frame the window myself. I did.
They came back and installed the window. When the inspector came out he refused to inspect the window because the permit was only for the outside and it needed to cover any changes to the inside. The company is now telling me that I need to contact the carpenter who needs to pull a permit for the inside. They were the ones that opened up the wall all the way to the ceiling. This makes no sense why would they not cover this kind of work in their initial permit.
I have been calling the Torrance office for the past week and a 1/2 and there has been no response from anyone. I've called corporate and I got the run around but promises that they would contact me immediately the same day and it's been a week and nothing has happened. We canceled Thanksgiving dinner at our house and it looks like we can forget about hosting Christmas.
There are lots of window companies out there, run from renewal by Anderson to avoid the pain and suffering my family is currently...
