A true gem in Torrance. Family-owned business since the 90s. I used to come here every weekend as a kid and I can't believe that they're still around. I always try to make a trip here whenever I'm back in town. The owners are so sweet and explains why they have such loyal customers, some of them with their own families and kids now. Excellent customer service, they give great suggestions based on what you need. 100% authentic, they used to hold official tournaments by Konami. They have a great selection of booster packs and boxes. The way to pull a Mega Pokemon or any rare card in general is to buy sealed boxes, which trust me, you'll know if it's re-sealed right away by the way the seal looks. They used to display individual cards but things have definitely changed, especially after COVID, and they are moving towards more online sales & business. Everything is still available, you just need to look it up online beforehand. They allow you to purchase online or call-in to save cards seen online and come-in to do pick-up so that you save on shipping costs. They occasionally buy used cards and those are the single cards listed online. Please remember that this is a small business and they are not buying to collect, they are buying to make a living. There are a lot of costs and time spent sorting, organizing, storing, listing, and potentially shipping these individual cards. The owner is always upfront on how they buy cards. If you are selling singles, they will look up market price and offer you a price they feel worth it for them to buy and resell. The price is always mutually agreed on between the seller and buyer. There are plenty of avenues for one to sell privately, such as Facebook Marketplace and eBay if you are hoping to get 100% market price. This store is based on honest, hard-working people and I will always rather spend my money here, rather than a corporate conglomerate like Walmart or Target! I hope they stay in...
Read moreEver since I first visited 8 Ball Cards and Games, I've made it a point to visit them first when I'm looking to expand my collection of Pokemon cards. The store is not the biggest I've been to, but the service is great, the selection is great, and the prices are more than reasonable.
I've seen a few reviews mentioning the offers being made for singles, and while I wasn't there for those particular instances, I have sold cards to this store and have never been low-balled. They've always been up-front with how they get their prices (they look up eBay listings right there in front of you using the laptop on the counter) and will make an offer if it's worth their time and effort to resell them. What a lot of people seem to forget when selling to local card shops is that they're not buying to collect, they're buying to resell them, and there are costs associated with storing, organizing, listing, and potentially shipping these cards out, so of course you're not going to get anywhere near what you could get for them if you sold them to a collector. They still need to make money, and paying you retail for these cards isn't going to do it. There are plenty of other avenues for selling privately, such as Reddit groups, eBay, and a large number of private classified-style apps you can use.
I've really enjoyed coming to this store, and I hope to be visiting again for a very long time. The service is excellent, the staff is friendly, and the...
Read moreI’m pretty upset right now. I went there a few months ago and sold a hard binder full of Pokémon cards with about 6-7 pages worth of holo cards from Japan and US in including 2 Dark Charzards a 1st edition blastocyst and much more. These cards never got played with and never came out the card holder’s they’d been in for the past 16 years!
The owner for sure ripped me off! I got 200.00 bucks for everything and come to find out some of those cards were worth hundreds a piece. Super dishonest and disheartening to find out I took a major L today. Don’t take your...
