Red Rock, a famous international franchise from Japan, has established itself as a go-to spot for steak bowls in the Greater LA area. Known for their exceptional food quality and unique flavors, Red Rock continues to impress locals and visitors alike.
Ambiance and Expansion
Previously the only location across the U.S., Red Rock has expanded with an express service branch and a new Arcadia location in 2024, giving fans more opportunities to enjoy their fantastic offerings. Despite the limited dining area—featuring just a few small tables and a bar table—the cozy space is adorned with cute beef-themed decorations, making the ambiance both charming and inviting.
Dishes
Cut Steak Don and Rib-Eye Don: These dishes are the stars of the menu, served with a raw egg and a special sauce that’s both salty and sweet. The sauce perfectly complements the rice, egg, and steak, creating a harmonious and flavorful experience. The steaks are juicy and tender, elevated by the rich flavors of the sauce.
Beef Tongue Combo: A new addition that’s quickly becoming a favorite. The combo includes three whole, fully cooked pieces of beef tongue, served with special sauce, rice, and miso soup—a must-try for adventurous eaters.
Coroquette: A standout side dish that pairs perfectly with any don. The coroquette is crispy on the outside, with a creamy and hot mashed potato and beef filling inside. The rich texture and flavor make it a must-try addition to your meal.
Bento and Curry Rice: These are also highly recommended, offering a comforting and delicious alternative to the steak dons.
Drinks and Pricing
Red Rock offers a variety of wine and beer options, adding to the dining experience. However, it’s worth noting that prices have seen a significant increase compared to pre-COVID times. Despite this, the excellent food quality and unique taste keep locals coming back for more.
Final Thoughts
With its rich flavors, cozy atmosphere, and exciting new menu items, Red Rock remains one of the best places for steak dons and other Japanese specialties in the area. The addition of dishes like the coroquette and the beef tongue combo further highlights their creativity and dedication to delicious food. While the rising prices may deter some, the loyal customer base and consistent quality ensure that Red Rock will continue to thrive. Hopefully, they’ll expand even further, bringing their amazing dishes to more locations...
Read moreI live 30-45 min away from the restaurant but after discovering this gem, I’m almost here every weekend. You cant go wrong with the American sliced beef don. Perfectly portioned and perfectly seasoned, reasonably priced for a medium size and you can get a large if you’re feeling a little more meat. The rice under the meat is also well seasoned with sauce and quite good on its own. Opt for an egg if available; it just takes the entire thing up a notch. The meat is not too raw for those who’re concerned, but just nicely roasted that it’s tender and juicy. Hamburg omu rice - the star of the dish i’d say is definitely the garlic rice (you can choose between Garlic or… ketchup? i forgot) and demi glace sauce. Hamburg steak is nice, but the rice and sauce is just too good that the steak itself becomes kind of a side-character. I’d say the American Cut Steak don is just as good as the sliced don if you’re into chewier meat. Croquette… was ok. Service’s attentive and the atmosphere’s great. Definitely recommend!

Read moreThe staff just completely ignored us chatting each other. We had to wait for almost 10 mins when there are empty tables. We made an order and they staff messed up and brought us the wrong food after another long wait. The rice bowl which supposed to be served hot became cold when we get the food. It fine as we just wanted to quickly finish our meal and leave. And then the funniest dining experience in my life happened :) they realized they served the wrong food, they just came to us and took away the food I already ate almost half without any apologies! We told them we don’t want to wait and asked if we can keep the food and they just ignored us and took away the half done food anyway LOL with zero respect to us. We still gave the 15% tip for the worst service for the worst dining service and experience. Sorry but no sorry this is the worst restaurant in the US! You don’t care about your customers and reputation, then we don’t care about your...
