SEPHORA — Attraction in Torrance

So glad they opened a Sephora in the Rolling Hills Plaza! It’s so close to me, and there’s plenty of parking. I don’t have to go inside a mall to get to Sephora!

While booking a makeup application appointment on their website, I saw that they offer a lip treatment by Hydra Facial. Lately, my lips have been super dry, and I’ve been having to apply a ton of chapstick. I’ve never had this issue before, so I’m not used to dealing with this issue. So when I saw that they offer this, I immediately made an appointment to try it out and see if it helps. I easily made an appointment online and was good to go.

When I walked in for my appointment, I went to the front desk to check-in. I was seen right away by (ugh, I’m so bad with names, maybe Jennae?) a lovely lady on 4/23/22 @ 4:30. She walked me through the process and got started. It was quick; I actually saw a difference in my lips. She applied a sleeping mask called Laneige, which I also purchased.

A week has passed since my lip treatment, and I’ve noticed they haven’t been as dry, and I’m not constantly applying chapstick as often! So I guess the treatment worked for me. Totally worth the $30!

I went into this Sephora looking for a particular concealer that appeared to be discontinued. When I asked for help, one of the representatives — who I think might have been a manager — completely brushed me off. She barely acknowledged me, acted like I wasn’t worth her time, and was incredibly condescending. It was really frustrating and disappointing. Thankfully, I later spoke with another representative who was respectful, kind, and took the time to explain that she was already helping another customer, but still tried to assist me and confirmed that the product seemed to be discontinued. Honestly, experiences like this make you never want to visit their store again. Sephora needs to do better. People come in needing help with products they don't fully know about, and they deserve to be treated with respect...

I really like this Sephora. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, and the woman who does eyebrow waxing and makeup application services, Jennae, is not only knowledgable and talented, but she's genuinely a delight to be around. She's got a ton of good advice and makes great personalized product recommendations without any pressure whatsoever to purchase anything. For someone like me, it's so nice to not feel like I'm being pushed into making purchases beyond the service I'm paying for.
