I am so pleased to write this review. I found Fanoos Grill by my hunger intuition. It was late and my sister and I wanted to find any open non-fastfood restaurant that served good comfort food. I saw the open sign and knew I wanted to eat there despite not knowing it was Persian cuisine. Once I found that out, I asked for a dish I had as a child 31 years ago. My friend called the dish her mom made us "Persian Pizza", so I asked for that and was politely told pizza wasn't served there. I then described the dish to George and he was excited tho tell me what I wanted was Tadig. He recommended Ghameh to go with it. I wasn't sure I wanted it, so George gave me a sample of it. I was brought to tears because all of the awesome memories of eating it at my friend's house after school came back. George handed me a tissue and taught me the words of the food I wanted and even said he'd tell his co-workers to have some ready at night just in case I happened to pop in. I promised to come back soon. I happily ate my favorite dish once I got home and stuffed my belly to the brim. I was given so much for such a low price that I can easily get 4 servings out of it. I am forever grateful for Fanoos Grill, George and the chefs. I am extremely happy with the customer service, food, decor and ambiance. Next time I will dine in and enjoy the...
Read moreI got ripped off by this place and they know it. We ordered a couple of dishes from the lunch page off the menu. when we got the check, I noticed price was higher by $9 dollars. when I asked why, the owner said he served us the dinner dish (bigger portion) instead. why, because they were no longer serving lunch at that time. Basically the guy took the liberty to upgrade our order from lunch to dinner with out letting us know that it was higher in price and with bigger portion than what we wanted. No matter how I argued with that guy, he just kept saying that I made the wrong order and that I was looking at lunch page instead of dinner's. I will never ever recommend this place to anyone. Food was below average. In fact my wife couldn't eat her dish and I ate what I could because I was too hungry. The place is very boring. Very unwelcoming faces greet you as you come in. No smiles no attention to customers. everyone that works there seem unhappy including manager/owner. just a sad vibe all...
Read moreNot great. I was really excited to try this place based on the great reviews, and dare I say I was less than underwhelmed. Food just ok, and very expensive for the quality.
I ordered the boneless chicken kebab, the beef keboodeh, shariza salad and hummus. The two entrees were fine, not outstanding, not terrible. The rice was mostly white rice, rather than a seasoned yellow rice. The chicken was a bit dry, and the beef was probably the best thing I ordered, but also dry and missing something, (garlic? Parsley?)
The salad was well seasoned but the pieces of onion were so big it overwhelmed the dish. This is usually my favorite part of ordering a Mediterranean meal, but I couldn't finish it.
Finally the most disappointing was the hummus. It was watery, bitter and was overly seasoned with raw garlic. I struggled to eat it, but since I spent so much money I tried to force it down. I've never had a worse hummus in my life.
I would not recommend and I...
