The view is impeccable but the crowd there is almost too much to bare during Covid season. Not to mention that most of the people at this beach are youths who disregard mask wearing and social distancing practices. It is crazy to think that even after all of the prudent warnings California has said and done to combat Covid younger people have little respect for this. But it is even crazier that these same people are drinking alcohol and playing beer games on the beach despite the lifeguards or police omnipresence in this area. I feel like public drinking is something you can get away with in New Orleans much less the whole South, but never would I have thought there would be crowds of drunken and vomiting kids stumbling through the soft sand white of my home. Plastic and glass bottles of various vodkas, rum, and beer litter the ground like land mines it's No Man's Land. I have observed that local degeneracy thrives with lack of...
Read moreTorrance Beach is a long wide sandy beach (and the only beach) in the city of Torrance, California. This is the southernmost of the big beaches on Santa Monica Bay which extends from the Malibu area to the Palos Verdes Peninsula. It has a local nickname of RAT Beach which stands for various things like Right At Torrance, Right After Torrance, Redondo And Torrence, etc. Torrance Beach has a nice large parking lot, safe graded ramps to the beach, lifeguards, access to a long bike path, and nice facilities. It tends to be a little less crowded than it’s neighboring beaches to the north, Redondo, Hermosa, and Manhattan Beach. Torrance Beach starts at Miramar Park on the north end and extends to a cove at the south end called Malaga Cove Beach. The parking lot is along Paseo De La Playa from Calle Miramar to Via Riviera. South of that are homes on the bluff and no public right of ways...
Read moreGood beach to bring the kids for a swim. Weekends it gets a bit busy but that is to be expected. Parking on the streets or in the parking lot near Merrimac park entrance for $7.
Beach was rather clean. Volleyball nets in front of the beach homes at the top of the hill. Nice view and the ride was pretty nice the day I came, on Sunday. Lifeguards throughout and recycling and trash cans everywhere. Luckily most people kept their area clean so its perhaps one of the cleanest beaches I've been to.
Great place to come back again throughout the summer. It does get busy with folks with boards so you kind of have to be careful when they find a good spot with some waves to ride, no matter how small they may be. Had a good time...
