Mexican food in LA is always amazing, and this place was no exception. We ordered our food to go and they had it ready to go quickly. For our appetizer, we got the carne asada fries which were delectable, but came in a huge portion so we had to save it for another day. Our entrees were the steak plate and the california burrito, and we got a side of the 32oz (2 lbs) refried beans. The portions for the entrees were also big, but the food was delicious! We were very happy with both of our meals. The refried beans were divine. However I do have to tell you about a story of what happened with the beans. There I was, eating a full pound of beans in a single sitting, enjoying my life, when disaster struck. After finishing my serving of beans, we were driving in thick LA traffic up north, and I got hit by what I can only describe as a small little man with a sharp knife attempting to kill me from the inside. I could hardly breathe, had to loosen my seat belt, and was just hanging on for dear life. If it weren’t for that 76 gas station along the way, I would’ve just passed away in our rental car. You should definitely try the beans though. Just don’t inhale them too...
Read moreGreat food. Great service. Nice and considerate. They offered me a diet plan and my dog water while we waited for our order which was "to go ". When I told them I did not order the cola drink and I did not order " the special" which included fries and a drink they said " they understood that" and gave me the cup for the drink anyway. Additionally, most folks that put orders in "to go" they call out their name or order to be picked up. In my case because they knew I was waiting outside with a big dog they never called it my name or order. They just walked the food outside, gave it to me and asked if my dog or U needed anything else! That is my definition of "Nice" and "Considerate". Nobody that works there or has any ownership knows me or my dog and I don't know them or their names!
This doesn't happen anywhere most if the time and it doesn't happen everywhere any of the time!
So 5 stars, two thumbs up and a high 5...
Read moreThis Mexican spot is located on the west side of Catalina at the corner of S Elena in Riviera Village. The decor is very authentic for a taco shop you might find in Mexico and it feels inviting and relaxed. We had grilled and crispy fish tacos which were both delicious. The loaded Carnitas burrito was just the right size, filling but not overwhelming. Nothing tasted greasy or fatty and everything was very fresh and flavorful. They have a nice salsa bar with half a dozen levels of heat to keep everyone happy. The food here is just good, and they use quality ingredients that you can taste the difference. Service was friendly and efficient so it is easy to get in and out if you need to do a quick lunch. The summary is fresh, tasty, food at a reasonable price with great service. Must try if you are a fan of...
