Was in the store this morning. Usually stop in whenever in town. Have purchased some high-end items in the past when the store had more of a consignment feel rather than the new HomeGoods vibe. My friend found a boxed set of miniature ornaments that were of no particular note worthiness save that they were cute. The tag indicated they were 12 for $12. We asked the woman who said she had worked there for years if that price was accurate. She answered, âit is, what a great deal.â Then she asked if we wanted them. My friend answered âyes, for sure!â The woman proceeded to retrieve the top of the box. When we were ready to check out, she said the total was â28.00â I looked incredulous, I imagine, and asked, âhow can that he right?â She said something about NY sales tax. I reminded her that the tag indicated the set was $12 and she said, âno.â Apparently she forgot the earlier conversation about the $12 price. We indicated we were not interested in proceeding with the sale.
Now, $26 plus tax is not an issue. The issue was the obvious switch the woman did, perhaps realizing the initial price was wrong. Had she admitted that there was an error, the $26 plus tax would not have been an issue. However, the dishonesty is regrettably repulsive and a dreadful way to conduct business. Thus, my advice to any person willing to do business at this venue is to take a pic of the tag before allowing the clerk to take the item. I, though, wonât be doing that because I will never patronize this business again. To be clear, it is not the difference between $12 and $26 that is the issue for me, rather it is the dishonesty that the saleswoman opted for. To me, that is a non-negotiable and a deal breaker...
Read moreStopped in the store this morning. Asked the clerk if it was still a consignment shop because it looked like a lot of new things from HomeGoods and other various places. Was told yes all these things are consigned. That was shocking because many looked like they could be found in HomeGoods. Found a set of ornaments, 12. They were marked $12. Clerk mentioned that there was a top to the box that she would retrieve for us. At checkout, she informed us that these little ornaments were $26. I saw the tag, the person I was with saw the tag, and the tag was fixed to the ornaments tied to the bottom of the box and it said $12. We even asked the clerk âcan this be right $12 for these?â, Her response was affirmative. She said âwhat a great deal.â At checkout though again it was $26. She did the bait and switch- that is poor business. We will never ever patronize this business...

The I received a message from her while I was in buffalo general about to have my husband brain surgery. All she said come and pick up my items. What a joke.
